MoKaBe's is my got-to. My Cheers. When I am away from the Lou, I long for my place at the bar or a chair in the sun on the patio. There is no other place on the planet like MoKaBe's for great food; breakfast, lunch and dinner, not to mention the best Brunch on any Sunday, all served up by radical activists wearing the best T-shirts and a fridge covered in stickers you would want on your bumper. Hands down this place wins best of snark, tops in intelligent conversation and any playlist coming out of the speakers you are sure to find your groove on. xoxo
The coffee is great; the prices are reasonable (I find them to be slightly cheaper than nearby coffeehouses); and the politics are on point. The staff is professional and approachable but never obsequious or nosy. I appreciate this place as a late-night study spot especially. As a queer trans person, I feel very comfortable here.
I come to mokabes whenever I have an intense need to be surrounded by good people. The seating is great, especially the patio during spring and fall, and accommodates groups well. The menu has something for everyone, and I always find the soup of the day to be on point.
Had brunch for the first time on Sunday. We brought a friend from out of town that is vegetarian and we all loved the selections. There were several vegan options, lots of fresh fruit and juices. The most amazing dish is the portabella mushroom quiche. Brunch ends at 1pm and we showed up kind of late worried that they were going to be running low on food but they kept bringing hot food out right up to the end.
There is no other place like Mokabes in St. Louis. Are you a vegan, vegetarian, or not? Stop by on Sunday's for an amazing brunch, includes deserts, juice, and coffee. My wife and I have different palates, but they are always satisfied when we stop at Mokabes for either a meal or coffee!
I loved it. It was my first time there and it was a really really cool place. The food was good and so was the coffee I had. The staff is friendly, also!! I am definitely going back until I try everything on the menu! Lol!!
The coffee and service are both great. ☺️Love the breakfast burrito as well. The location is ideal if you want to grab coffee and walk around Tower Grove Park. It's also ideal if you want to stay in and chill because there is plenty of space. Would definitely recommend.
I visited for the second time yesterday. They have a great patio, fun laid back atmosphere. I went my first time for brunch and still rave about how great it is!
I've been going to Mokabes for over half my life. Amazing brunch, amazing coffee, great staff, and fantastic place to build community!
What a fascinating place to brunch! The food was delicious (especially the quiche) and caters to a mix of vegan, vegetarian, religious, and carnivore diets. You'll want to take a walk around and read the signs and bumper stickers. I will definitely visit again when in town.
beautiful place with delicious coffees, mokabe's has the local community coffeehouse vibe. grateful to be out among our family; an excellent place to connect with new friends!

Great place...I'll be back definitely...very friendly customer service great atmosphere for studying or just getting a cup of coffee or lunch.
Many dining and coffee options. The coffeehouse is dedicated to social justice and all human rights. When I went it was cold and they had blankets and tarps outside the cafe for those who needed them. Wonderful place!
If you ain't going to Mokabe's Sunday brunch cause you got a good job, Then by all means make your paper, boo boo, But if you ain't got no Sunday job and you not going to Mokabe's Subday brunch, I don't know what the f** you are doin' with your life I really don't ;)
This is one of the coffee shops that's close to Tower Grove Park. I've only been here once, and I ordered a delicious coffee. Their gooey butter cake was divine! The vibe is chill, and it's like a community staple around the area. I highly recommend this coffee shop! Worth your visit :)

Love it! Food, coffee and even the people are great. Staff is usually welcoming. The French dip sandwich is my go-to. Just discovered they have brunch on weekend. Great price for what you get! Very inclusive menu and buffet options. The tip jar choice thing always gets a chuckle out of me. One of those free things that goes a long way and gives the place a more personable and like able feel. Great place to study too. Patio and people watching are great on a summer day. but the smoking can really add up if you’re not a smoker. It gives me a headache so I can’t stay outside too long some days but there’s more seating inside. Of course the location great and the park is a lovely backdrop.
This family-owned spot is not only a safe space for everyone, but they also have the best coffee in town. If you come in more than twice with the same order, they'll remember you. The staff goes out of their way to make a relationship with their customers, and the cook crushes it every time. Their prices are reasonable, and my only complaint is that they aren't open 24/7 - because I would go at 3 in the morning if it meant I could munch on a delicious vegan brownie. Which brings me to the next point - they have plenty of vegan options for drink AND food. Breakfast or lunch - they have you covered. Also, their proximity to Tower Grove Park makes it easy to turn a MoKaBe's trip into an afternoon walking around the park with your favorite seasonal drink. I love the people, the food, and the atmosphere. 10/10 - I visit multiple times a week.
Very local spot. We came after the farmers market at tower grove park. The patio was full of people enjoying coffee and lunch. We loved this spot, the patio is right across from he park and has a great view.
Great little urban hip South Grand coffee shop and cafe. Nice array of sandwiches (including vegetarian and vegan) and breakfast offerings. Counter order and find a seat at the bar, two inside areas, an upstairs area or the fantastic patio facing Arsenal / Grand. SUPER breakfast options. The best part of MoKaBe's is the free spirit, earth friendly, peace-to-all aura. Go feel at home, be one with your sandwich.
One of my favoritest coffee shops in the city!! Not only are they ethically fantastic, but they have lots of vegan options for food and coffee. Their specialty coffees are amazing! Try the spicy mocha if you're adventurous 😏
Really enjoyed the coffee there! The inside is very cool, definitely a hipster vibe with a bunch of cool stickers behind the counter (some of them are kind of edgy so beware, a few of them did make me uncomfortable). I liked how the coffee making station looks. Service was very speedy and the staff is so nice. My friend and I just got coffee, but the food looks spectacular.
First Service was amazing...
Second, they had my favorite coffee, Hollander Grog😍
I ordered the KEYSTONE with oat milk and added Carmel... It was phenomenal.
I also ordered the portobello mushroom sandwich with LTP and it did not disappoint.
So many options to choose from, I wanted to try it all.
A MUST TRY!!!
Fun atmosphere with friendly staff, vegan breakfast burrito is so flavorful!
