Baba Xavi is perfectly third culture. It proffers an interpretation of Indian cuisine – perhaps most fairly described as Anglo-Indian - that is delicious and approachable to a diverse audience. For our mains we ordered the chana masala, palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, lamb curry burger, and mulligatawny soup. All these dishes were tasty and well balanced. The lamb curry burger, which is actually a lamb kebab served with naan, was particularly sumptuous and the best item we ordered. Indian food purists may complain that the overall flavours were relatively muted, but this food isn’t meant for just purists, it’s for everyone. That said, evocative accents from the carom board to the Parle-G biscuits served with cutting chai are sure to satisfy any nostalgic cravings. Overall, we had an excellent experience and will definitely be back.
Had the Palak Paneer and Lamb Buger with fries. Amazing food, great service and reasonable prices. Nice beer and wine selection
I love everything about this new restaurant. The food is definitely in it's own leage. A very fresh perspective on Indian cuisine. Lamb meat tasted very fresh and nicely flavored. The margarita has Jal jeera in it which amazing if you know what it is. The chai comes with parle-G biscuits lol. Sooo nostalgic for people grew up in India. Definitely would go again. And to owners: please keep this place going. I think you have a bright future.
