My wife and I visited Vaquero’s for a quick brunch instead of La Hacienda just to try something different.
The Green salsa was extremely flavorful and spicy. The Chorizo and eggs was just like I had growing up. You were able to taste it! Most places in San Antonio leave the full grease load and doesn’t enable you to taste the Chorizo.
Well done!
Ignore the couple of bad reviews and you will be rewarded with the best baja style mexican food in San Antonio. If you are originally from California like me and are tired of texmex heavy cheesy gravy style food, this place is amazing.
We had the carnitas burrito, carne asada burrito, shredded beef taco (crispy) and carnitas taco (soft).
The burritos are so huge they could feed 2 people and its mostly excellent tender BEEF! The add guacamole and pico de gallo and it is massive. Same for the carnitas burrito. Crispy taco was tasty..we were too full to try the soft taco and had them the next day so can't comment on those.
vacqueros also has jamaica drink which is so hard to find compared to the prevalent horchata. It was very good, not too sweet.
Go there- order up and you can thank me later.
Amazing atmosphere! Great hot food! The tacos are huge, order one to feed yourself, the beans, I haven't had beans that good since Mexico! Friendly people!
