This place! Amazing drinks and steaks. It's probably the best Filet Mignon I've ever had. So tender, so flavourful and cooked perfectly. I wish I knew what the 3rd drink was called. It was $24 and tasted heavenly in my mouth. *update I called about the mystery delicious drink, and the young lady who answered was just the sweetest and so very helpful. Try the Old Fashioned with the 1792 small batch Bourbon. It's like the taste of Fall in your mouth.

Cowboy Star in San Diego delivered a dining experience that exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. To start, the Single Barrel Old Fashioned set the tone for an incredible evening, boasting a rich and unforgettable flavor. The journey continued with a half dozen oysters, a delightful appetizer that tantalized our taste buds. What truly elevated our dining experience was our server, Joshua. His recommendation of the Wagyu Skirt Steak was spot on. It was a delightful departure from my usual Filet choice, and I was delighted I followed his advice. The creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and asparagus sides were nothing short of perfection. We couldn't resist the allure of dessert, and we're so glad we didn't. The peanut butter whiskey-infused ice cream was an unforgettable treat, and Joshua's suggestion of the banana pudding was equally remarkable. What made the night truly special was our choice to reserve counter seating. This unique vantage point allowed us to witness the artistry of the kitchen. One of the talented cooks, Brandon, added a personal touch to our evening by engaging in friendly conversation. It was a memorable touch that made our honeymoon dinner at Cowboy Star a moment we'll treasure forever. In all honesty, Cowboy Star provided us with the best meal of our lives, and we wouldn't dream of celebrating our honeymoon anywhere else. This culinary journey, guided by Joshua and made exceptional by Brandon's warmth, will be a cherished memory. Cowboy Star is a true gem in San Diego, offering a dining experience that goes above and beyond.

For someone like myself who isn’t a big steak eater this place was absolutely delicious. I ordered a well done filet… yes a well done! It was made to perfection. The steak was so tender and juicy filled with tons of flavor. The sides were the perfect size. The grilled shrimp was so also very tasty. I highly recommend this place. Perfect for a date night.

I had a favorite restaurant in the U.S. and that was Sullivan’s in Chicago. This place is legit. Astonishingly good food and pretty attentive service even at the Christmas season. Happy hour wine was excellent, coupled with the home made sausage. That came with sauerkraut that had an addictive extra flavor. Ordered the dry aged ribeye and I was in Heaven. Cognac and cappuccino to finish. Lovely evening altogether. Arturo, thank you for your lovely hospitality.

Such an awesome place! I'm sad I discovered it only after a year living in SD. Delightful atmosphere, relatively small and cozy place, welcoming stuff, also it's noticeable that people care about the food their serving. This place has a great menu and selection of drinks. My medium rare steak was so great, and the desserts... my browny was a heaven! I enjoyed this place and restaurant experience a lot. Definetly recommend!

This might be my new favorite downtown restaurant. The rustic dishes, generous portions and incredible flavors, especially from the wood fired grill, are exceptional. I ordered everything on the starter menu to get a nice flavor tour, plus three desserts. The meatballs are fire smoked and crazy good. Always add the off-menu "surf'n'turf" option if available (yummy wood-fired shrimp). Service was great for what was a busy night.

Simply delicious, worth the price!! This was our first visit and we loved it!! From the first step you take when you enter to the last one when you leave. The employees do know how to provide their service, all of them, without excluding someone, treated us super well. The food is scrumptious, starting with the drinks to dessert. On this visit, Omar was in charge of our drinks, and he was attentive ALL the time, honestly, the treatment he gave us was amazing, always checking if everything was fine or if we need anything. Now, the steaks are from another world, tasty, tender and juicy. You have to keep in mind that they are not cheap, if you are going to eat a good steak you are going to have to pay. I recommend making a reservation in advance as it gets very crowded. There is no valet parking, so get there a little early so you can look for parking around. I would definitely go back and recommend it.

Best steakhouse and butcher shop in all of downtown. Located off the beaten path, Cowboy Star has one of the best atmospheres, service and elevated menu you will find. Also, they have the best Happy Hour! Monday through Friday 3-6! Get their early or there will be nowhere to sit in the bar area.

Had a great experience here. I went with one other person and we ate at the bar. We ate there be a we didn’t make a reservation but I actually enjoyed it and think I’d do it again if I went back. We ordered the 35 day old Dry-Aged Rib Eye. It was my first time getting a Dry-Aged Rib Eye so I wanted to see what it was about. It was good but didn’t really notice anything that made it much better than a standard rib eye at a steak house. If I went back I’d just get the regular 14 oz rib eye for $30 cheaper. For my sides I got the macaroni and cheese (delicious), Brussels Sprouts (good), and Bone Marrow. All the sides were good but I’d probably pass on the bone Marrow next time and then get desert instead. I also ordered an old fashion and whiskey sour and both drinks were great. I wish I got the bar tender’s name who was serving us. He did a great job. Asian dude with buzzed hair working on Sunday night 1/16/22. Shout out to him. I’d come back
