First off the name of this place is called Little Cay. I really enjoyed this place, the service was great, fast, and price. The food was authentic, but just be careful when the menu says spicy they aren't kidding. Lol I love the veggie empanadas and the Ropa Vieja.
I have been here off and on for the past 5 years. The authentic Cuban style is a little too authentic for my taste. Cuba is a poor country, but this San Diego restaurant really should consider buying new plates.
Great menu, good value. Wait staff are very accommodating but did not graduate from charm school. Then again, this could be part of its charm.
I discovered this place quite by accident. It's hidden away from all my usual routes, but when my first lunch choice was closed, I did a quick search and came upon Embargo Grill. And I am so thrilled I did!
After nine visits, I can safely call this one of my favorite restaurants in town. On my most recent visit, the restaurant was packed, and just one server was working, but service was fantastic. And the food... So good! Every bite was delicious. We started with the mariquitos de platano and sangrias, I ordered the Key West, and he chose the picadillo chop. Both were packed with meat, greens, rice, beans, and so much flavor.
