Have you ever craved a burrito, ate it, then regretted your decision knowing that something better awaits you if you just would have had an alignment of location, time of day, and euphoria from a busy but fun filled day?
Ok, maybe just me.
Through a friend that called a nearby suburb of San Diego home, I was recommended Colima's Mexican Food. Get anything with carne asad he said. That cut my options down to 9 burritos (excluding breakfast). I chose Bandido 'wet' and sat outside on a clean picnic table.
What happened next was perhaps the equivalent of a gastronomical epiphany!
The burrito arrived plated and topped with shredded cheese over the beautiful red sauce. I had fork and knife at the ready. I cut it in half to expose the well portioned ingredients of rice, beans, cheese, and the duex tour des forces...chile rellenos and carne asada!
Carne asada well seasoned, the green pepper flavorful with the melted cheese slowly making its way down the side of my dissection. My internal Morgan Freeman narration getting the best of me I realized my burrito should be devoured while hot and began the sliced cuts to enjoy the incredible flavor combinations.
I was nearly speechless when a server popped outside to see how I was enjoying it.... I squeaked out excellent and continued to complete the second half my twilight culinary sonata.
With the completion of the musical and darkness falling upon me, I stood up, bowed my head, and left knowing I would be back each time I visit San Diego to try another carne asada filled masterpiece.
We ordered food after a long day at the zoo. We couldn't be happier with this place . The food was delicious! We got it delivered, and it was still warm . We will definitely eat here again when we are in san diego . The food portions are huge and well worth the money . Thanks again for a delicious last dinner in San Diego.
The food and service are both great! I ordered the Colima's burrito(battered fish with carne asada) with a bag of chips. The burrito was huge! The meat tasted good and the veggies were fresh. I'm definitely coming back. All the positive reviews are true!
My daughter told me about this place. Wow what can I say. One of my top eateries in San Diego. Best price, food , service , quality and portions. You can't go wrong folks.
Just really good mexican food. A ton of choices to pick from and all comes with big portions. Had the grilled shrimp wrap two days in a roll, it's that good. Also got the mole and chimichuga dish.
Fast service, affordable, big portion, really tasty food, it have much more flavor than majority of taco shops, and 24 hours open. What else can you ask for ?
I ordered 7 mares soup( it has a lot of seafood and come with real crab, which other many places use imitation) and chilaquiles (it’s a little bit too spicy for me though, but it was delicious)
I think I found a new place to go after getting off work by late night.
My Nee Favorite place. My dad owned a taco shop in SD for over 30 years. He has been retired for a while now and we miss the food so much. This place is the closest I have found. The food is fresh and well seasoned. My favorite is the SD Burrito and the rolled tacos are fantastic! They have a salsa bar and offer freshly made churros. They have chips for a buck. It's a fabulous place, busy and with a little wait but the food is always fresh! I LOVE this place. My only reason for the 4 is the Acapulco Burrito was nothing like the image and maybe wasn't made correctly. It had 6 shrimp swimming in a sauce and the lettuce was awful as well, where was the Avocado? I don't know if this was normal but we won't order that again. Otherwise everything else has been great.
God pozole Rojo and rolled before tacos 🌮 very good
We were looking for cheap and delicious food at a late hour and absolutely found the right place! We ordered combo 2 and 5 and both were huge portions and very good. Each costed roughly 11 dollars, a great price for what we got!
I personally didn’t liked the beef so much (good that I had the cheese enchilada), but my boyfriend did. The staff was super friendly, although they had a lot of orders to handle! Definitely would come back and try more of the wide menu range.
The California burrito was really good, I'm a fan! I also really love when there is a salsa bar. Fast service too. I'll be returning.
I ordered online through grubhub and MANNNN, this food was amazing! The food traveled well during delivery, and the portions are beyond what I expected. I ordered the Colimas burrito, which was an XXL burrito so I was able to get 2 meals out of it. My wife ordered the fish tacos which were also outstanding. If we are staying in the area again in the future, we will definitely make a visit (hopefully in person) and would recommend anyone to give them your business.
I made a Postmates order for my mom recently (elderly Hispanic woman) and she gave the food and portions praise! Especially for the price. Highly recommend this being a frequent visit for all your Mexican desires.
Excellent food at a great price! I got the steak enchiladas with salsa verde. The meat was tender and tasty. Salsa delicious and flavorful But not too spicy. Lettuce was fresh. Staff friendly. Place was clean. Its a chill ambiance and worth a stop for great food!
Great price for spectacular food, best thing is they’re open 24 hours a day. Opting for the original Carne Asada Burrito was the best choice. Most other shops the burrito is mostly excess tortilla this burrito is not all tortilla but filled to the brim with goodies. Large and savory, the hot sauces provided add a burst of heat and flavor rounding the dish off to perfection. The Fish tacos were delightful and also filled with goodies, the corn tortilla so delicate and tasty. The horchata was huge and refreshing.
First time coming here and I left impressed. There's a wide selection on the menu, but we came in the morning for breakfast. It wasn't busy and the cashier was super friendly. The food was made quickly. Also, the portions were amazing. The plates were full and the burrito was large. Unlike other restaurants that leave a lot of excess tortilla wrapped around itself, the ingredients inside filled it perfectly. Taste was on point too. If I had to nitpick, it's that they don't serve coffee, but that seems to be a common thing across all the Mexican restaurants I've been to in San Diego. Overall, it's a clean spot and the food got me hooked for the next time I'm in town.
Seriously my new favorite taco shop!!! San Diego native, I've been going to the same places forever. I've been here 3 times now, and it seriously hasn't failed me once. The hot sauce is so delicious!! The food is excellent. So many amazing flavors!!! Thank you for this wonderful experience in my mouth!
I placed an online order through Grubhub, and wow, the food was incredible! It held up well during delivery, and the portions exceeded my expectations. I opted for the Colimas burrito, an XXL size that provided enough for two meals. My wife ordered the fish tacos, and they were equally outstanding. If we find ourselves in the area again, we'll definitely make a visit (hopefully in person), and I highly recommend anyone to support their business.
