First time trying Gumbo and I left absolutely amazed at how good it was! We got chicken wings, fries, fried calamari, gumbo, a couple other entrees, and we all left satisfied. I got a 5 on the spicy scale but if you like it spicy you should get closer to 7-8. Definitely would recommend coming here, the location is great too
Came here for lunch...it was not that busy. I ordered combo pan roast, steamed clams and mussels, $1 oysters. Its hard for me not to compare this place to the Oyster Bar at the Palace Station in Vegas...since its one of my all time favorite restaurants. Tbh, this wasnt that bad. I actually like this combo roast better than Ritter's in OC (Ritter's is more on the tomato-y side). The downside of this combo roast is: the seafood quality is mediocre; small portioned, small in size, and it didnt taste as fresh as i would like. The steamed mussels and clam was delicious. The sauce that it was cooked in was amazing. You get a side of bread to dip in the sauce, too. I also got a half dozen of oysters at $1 each. It was tiny!!!!! I actually prefer smaller oysters, but these were half the size of kumomotos! Overall, i did enjoy the food here. I'm glad this restaurant took over the previous seafood restaurant.
We started out with the shrimp and grits, very tasty, buttery and the bacon bits on top brought this appetizer together.
For the main course I had the Soft Shell Crab Po Boy and it brought me back a little to New Orleans and was cooked perfectly.
My wife ordered the Jambalaya which was good, but a bit interesting because there rendition had cloves in it which my wife doesn’t like, but still are in it and liked the flavor despite the cloves, trust me with my wife that is saying a lot :).
The service was excellent and our server was totally on top of it. I would recommend this place and am dying to try their Gumbo.
