Very traditional Italian restaurant. It's a very small venue so it can be difficult to secure a table. I've been here for work engagements with a large party several times. The owner is heavily involved and an amazing host. The food is superb and if you're doing multiple courses, do not eat heavily before otherwise you will be unable to enjoy the fabulous desserts. I've had the pleasure of witnessing the owner sing, which is a delight for everyone in attendance. This is a gem of a restaurant that you have to enjoy. The view out the window is of the bay bridge which is fantastic at night when it's not socked in by fog.
I really loved this place.
I went there awhile back for a going away party for my husband's best friend. It was a party of about 10 people. From what I remember the food was delicious. The service was excellent. The non-stop wine was delicious and though the place is a bit smushed, it is intimate, has rose petals, and great lighting. The ambiance is so fabulous that we actually stayed until closing.
Really nice.
I did ask what kind of wine they were pouring but the waiter refused to answer my question.
Eh! I'll be back, anyway.
Lorenzo is a wonderful host whose wine pairing recommendations are spot on. Food has been consistently delicious for the 10 years we've dined there. Allegro celebrated its 20 years anniversary this year and continues to be a favorite spot for a special dinner.
