I had a chance to try this place out recently and I think that it has some really great things about it that you should also be checking out! Their drink menu... oh their drink menu. Not only is every wine on the list amazing, their house-made cocktails are simply inspiring. I remember specifically loving the Referendum and their take on the Irish Coffee. Can't wait to go back and try their in-house Amer Picon apertif. In addition to the above, the food was simply delightful. Not only was it beautiful to look at (the plating on some of the dishes is nothing short of art), it was so tasty too. I remember specifically loving the pickles (may be the best pickles I've ever had, actually. And I am a self-proclaimed pickle aficionado), the yellow tail and the chicken dish. Give this place a try, you won't regret it!

Enjoyed delicious French food from a new restaurant in town. Feels like I'm back in A Parisian bistro. The baked oysters and the artic char were delicious. Very creative incorporation of sea urchin into the sauce. The char was melt in your mouth tender and juicy. And the salmon roe's saltiness cuts the cream sauce perfectly. The crispy fish skin was one of the best fish skin I've ever had. I'm not usually a fan of rich creamy food but this didn't feel heavy at all but I enjoyed every bite. And the Alsatian cocktail was just right.

My first time to dine here. Just fabulous. Now I have another restaurant to add to my favorites. My dessert was outstanding. Escargot was perfect. Our server was very knowledgeable about wine and food. Food was cooked to perfection.

The food and service at this place is AMAZING ! You have to try the mulled wine drink that they have. I have returned here a couple of times just for that drink !

Amazing my new fave! We enjoyed every thing we ordered. The Lentil Salad and the Chocolate mousse are both my new faves. Mary was the best waitress. We will be back.

Extraordinary cocktails and food made by some of the most talented people in Seattle. We're blessed to have a restaurant of this calibre in our city. Do yourself a favor, and experience L'Oursin for yourself!

As a French bistro, L'Oursin is not what one would expect in terms of atmosphere and feeling. From its location to its accommodations it comes across more as an American upscale, jazzy brunch spot. The space is ample, comfortable and gives off a vibe of sumptuousness. They offer a list of classic cocktails with a creative twist of one or more added ingredients. They are resonant of their classic cousins, but not necessarily made better by the twists, at least to my taste. But that is where the differences end. The food, however, is spot on in its comparison to French bistro fare. My dining companion and I had a couple of the classics. I love the chewy earthiness of escargot in a garlicky butter sauce. L'Oursin did not disappoint. The cassoulet was an ample serving containing sweet Toulouse sausage, silky melt-in-your-mouth pork belly and a crispy, tender duck confit hindquarter nestled in a base of buttery rancho gordo beans. As good if not better than any I have had - here or in France. In addition we ordered Flatan Poche - halibut with a seafood sauce of spot prawns, scallops, and muscles in a bath of seafood broth, flavors balanced to support the main ingredient. Excellent. We also had the bread basket, which was not inspiring, and the crab fritters which would have been made better with 1 tablespoon more of crab. But all-in-all it was a very tasty meal perfect for sharing with someone who has an appreciation for bistro food.

This restaurant has an authentic French bistro vibe. Staff so kind and attentive and the wine is great. Love their Hawaii grilled shrimp, and dipping bread into the garlic butter is such a enjoyment. I do like the scallop crudo and their creativity of raw scallop paired with morel mushroom, but I don’t think it is realized very well. The mushroom is too strong that is overwhelms the delicate flavor of the scallop. And the dish is a bit flat and would be better off with a bit of crunchy texture. The crab fritter is crispy and I love them adding the fish roe to it. I like their salad dressing and the garlic croutons so delicious. But the salt was not eventually distributed and I had bite of endive with a chinch of salt…

Fantastic little restaurant. The food is amazing. The drinks are delightful. Service is top notch. Really can't complain. Menu is small, which is great because with such wonderful choices it makes it that much easier to decide. The dessert menu is equally as excellent. Really cannot go wrong. Try it out, you won't regret it.

The main dish (cassoulet) was delicious but both desserts (strawberries ice cream and mousse au chocolat) weren’t very good. They charged 20% service fees automatically and on top of that, they also asked for tip on the receipt so just be careful. And try not to sit at the bar because the washing machine the staff uses can spilt on your face and food. That was not pleasant.

After our most recent trip here this place is going in the regular rotation. Perfect blend of neighborhood brasserie and dinner seating. The chef's flavors are amazing, and the focus on seasonal herbs has noticeably improved. We had a scallop and morel dish that rivals some Michelin starred dishes. The cocktail menu has also elevated the stories that go with each drink.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Seattle! This is my 4th visit & I can’t say enough that the chicken was the best roasted chicken I’ve ever had! The sherry sauce & veggies complimented it so well. Of course, I’ll be back to try more new items!

A very pleasant dining experience. Servers were attentive and very kind. The food was excellent and hearty portions for the price. I would love to come back when the seasonal menu changes. They had a very impressive wine menu and had it not been “dry January” I would have ordered a glass/bottle. The crème brûlée was by far my favorite thing and I will be coming back to get it again. I also appreciated that they added 20% service charge to the bill so no tipping is required. I love and support any restaurant that provides its staff with a guaranteed living wage. It’s definitely worth a try.

I’m so serious, this was the best chicken I’ve had in my life ❤️ get the half chicken with morels in sherry sauce, it is so, so delicious. My mom had the french onion soup and said it was really yummy. The atmosphere is super warm and cozy, we even loved their playlist. The wine list was creatively described and had us ordering multiple different glasses just to give them a try. All in all we had a wonderful dinner and will definitely be recommending to our friends and returning when we can! Highly recommend!!

L'Oursin offers an elevate dining experience in a rather simple and down-to-the-earth space. There is nothing particularly striking about the menu, but all the dishes I tried turned out remarkably good. The attention to details that you can find a Michelin-starred restaurant paired with a creative approach to the menu surpassed my expectations, big time. A note on the black sea bass – it was, possibly, the best white fish I tried so far, grilled to perfection, with plenty of juices captured and a tender charred skin. A definite must-go place in Seattle.

Classic French bistro style eatery with the comfortable feel and eats taking on a PNW edge to it. This Seattle classic has been serving great food for years now and finally got around to give it a try. We surveyed the tasting menu, which was good. In retrospect, this was good, but the overall experience may have been better if we tried the a la carte menu. Favorites were the home made tagliatelle with geoduck that was cooked so delicately it was reminiscent of pork belly and paired with capers brown butter and crunchy breadcrumbs to add texture. The combination cod and braised oxtail was so interesting and promising, but fell flat with over cooked cod. The classics charcuterie plate was so good, I could come back for wine and meats any day. Overall a definite must try in Seattle. Will be back for a la carte food and drinks with bar food.

Fine dining quality food in an unpretentious setting. Sat at the bar and had a truly delicious dinner. They offer some really interesting wines by the glass, and the open plan kitchen offers a nice compliment to the understated dining room. Be sure to stop in on a Monday for their burger special!

The front of the house was outstanding. The decor manages to emulate the dingy, smoke covered walls of Paris without the smoke smell. The food was well done, but didn't raise the bar compared to Lūk which isn't too much further away.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night, had a great time. They have a huge wine list (including an orange wine - didn't order it though) and a number of cocktails as well. Coming into it I was a little apprehensive about the small menu. While there are several apps, small, and medium dishes, there were only 4 entrees on the menu (1 veggie, 2 fish, 1 chicken). I'm more of a protein person, but I ended up ordering the arctic char and was blown away by it! It was described as being similar to salmon (not my preferred fish), but the preparation of this was really what set it apart. The fish is cooked sous vide to a nice medium rare throughout - it was reminiscent of a smoked salmon. The morels and sauce was really nice and added a richness to the super tender fish.

We had a magical New Year's Eve meal last night. We were blown away by the quality, creativeness, and beauty of the six-course prix-fixe and wine pairing. We are pescatarian, and the chefs went out of their way to present us with a seafood-only menu. The pace was perfect; we enjoyed a leisurely 3-hour dinner. The staff was incredibly welcoming and knowledgable, but we were given time to enjoy our meal. Of note, I'm a lover of natural wine, and enjoyed all of the selections. What a great way to ring in the new year! We can't wait to return and try the à la carte menu.

Inside of L'Oursin, is a place called Old Scratch. It has delicious food, between chicken, tofu, brisket and burgers - it's totally worth trying them out. Although the prices are a bit high for the portion sizes, it's packed with great tastes. They also allow cocktails for delivery, with a few being pretty good. A little pricey once again, with small portion sizes, but you gotta try it since it's a great way right now to get things delivered. Double Smash Burger is amazing, and their chicken is done right.

The burger special at the bar is fantastic. Don't skimp, treat yourself to the duck fat fries, too. Quick, delightfully friendly service, delicious food, and excellent cocktails, as well as a well-curated list of wines by the glass.

My partner and I visited on a Sunday for the prix fixe menu and left very satisfied. I couldn't get enough of the in house bread and butter and insisted I finish all the butter. Pork terrine had a nice flavor and texture. Radiccio salad was very fresh, slightly bitter and balanced well with the dressing. I found the cassoulet so very flavorful and delicious. Very hearty and warm. The soup de poisson was full of yummy fish, scallops, mussels, and squid which sat in a nice, mild saffron seafood broth. Dessert was a beautiful cow cheese that was a delicate mix of earth and richness and was so creamy. The apple brandy sorbet was surprisingly enjoyable with it's cool mix of sweet and tart. Service was prompt and friendly. Be sure to read the wine list even if you don't drink wine.
