Winner winner chicken dinner! Organic chicken ... Paleo menu items , many gluten free . Great staff and service . Tavern atmosphere downstairs but you can go upstairs if you meed a little peace and quiet.
As of late however menu changes have dropped this item as well as charging more for less of the few that haven't been axed. Dropping popular menu items naturally leads to wondering :"why go? ".If the new menu is a flop you lose loyal customers. Hoping they will find their mojo again soon... check under the brisket burger !
For a while I'd wanted to try this place for the burger, which succeeded less as a toppings driven sandwich (not a fan of gigantic breadcrumbed onion rings in my burger) than for the quality of the beef within. But the surprise was an update to the website I noticed just hours before stepping in: they added a smoker. It's not barbecue per se, but a few different menu items make good use of the smoker. Besides splitting the burger, a friend and I split the burnt ends sandwich, which included cheese-- usually nontraditional at best and insecure at worst, as properly done burnt ends need no adornment. Bigger surprise: these were some of the best burnt ends I've had, and I've had hundreds. Smokiness, surface crustiness and inner tenderness were all top notch, while moistness was close. These also had that caramelly texture I love in burnt ends. Beef/smoke flavor was very enjoyable, both on its own and with the cheese, crusty baguette and garlic somewhere in there) helping out. Alas, the chips hid what would have been the best view of the burnt ends, and I didn't have high expectations going in, so this is all the photographic evidence I have-- for now. Looking forward to trying them again, and will also explore the pulled pork sandwich when I do.
Friendly wait staff, chill atmosphere, decent food.
