We visited Lucilla Friday evening for our date night, and now I have a new favorite restaurant. From the food to the service of the amazing staff, our experience was nothing short of stellar. We ordered two appetizers and two entrees. For appetizers, we had the pimento cheese fritters and the crab cakes. I don’t even eat pimento cheese but holy moly. The sweet glaze that comes with them balances out sweet and salty perfectly. The crab cakes were delicious, and come with a roasted corn succotash (couldn’t get enough of this flavor combo!!). For entrees, I had the Sirloin Au Poivre and my boyfriend had the Pan Roasted Scottish Salmon. The sirloin dish came with a savory bone marrow bread pudding and green beans, as well as a foie bordelaise(which was perfect for dipping the bread pudding into). The Scottish Salmon came with collards (that were perfectly cooked), cheese grits, and this phenomenal smoky tomato and shiitake mushroom sauce. Yall. This sauce was so good, I made my boyfriend trade plates with me. All in all, every bite of food we had was beyond delicious and we were so pleased with our experience here. No doubt about it, we’ll certainly be returning.
I felt comfortable dining in a rolled-up collared shirt and slacks. The large, friendly staff seated us immediately and ensured I never had to wait for a refill or to have a question about the menu answered. The wine menu was brief and selective in a good way. The meal, crab cake starter and a local fish entree, was among the best I have ever eaten. The plate caught the eyes of everyone in the dining room.
Will return. Will order something completely different. Will bring friends
I will be back for sure. Had the burger and all the flavors complimented each other so well. Yes the prices are higher than some places in town but I feel the price for this burger and other options are same price as a burger you get from smash burger or burger fi but 10,000 times better quality and flavor. I watched as others food came out and it too looked top notch. I listened carefully for their reactions and they loved it all. You get what you pay for and you shouldn't be disappointed with the end result in my opinion if you try this place. I came at lunch time and portions were large, I couldn't finish my whole burger although I wish I could have. Great place for date nights as atmosphere is intimate quiet and impressive.
