Went for breakfast and got the waffle fried chicken sandwich. The meal was great and full of flavor. The hint of hotsauce was just right.the cheese grits was not as flavorful as I was hoping for, but was atleast good grits. The staff was friendly, and the inside was clean and well kept. Love the local feel of this place. The prices where higher then I expected, but atleast I left satisfied.
Very tasty food, one of my favorite places to go to brunch! Pretty crowded on the weekends, beware. I haven't ever ordered something here that I didn't like. Sweet potato tots are boss!
As an official "big fan" of Merv's on Railroad, I was compelled to check out Merv's II so I took my oldest and we went for lunch the day after the soft-opening.
As with the original Merv's, this location offers unique and thoughtful menu options covering breakfast and lunch.
Staffing was strong and the wait for food was short, considering the cycle-time for producing these menu items. (I mention this because oftentimes, our wait in other fast-casual restaurants is shorter but there are plenty of "pre-fabbed" items that the kitchen can take advantage of when assembling orders. That's not the case here, where every order is effectively built from ground-zero with minimal prep.)
The decor is great! - For those of you that remember Billy Poole's "One Stir Fry" which existed here before, you'll notice the structural walls are intact but pretty much everything else is changed. Nice work on the white tiling with black grout. Reminds me of 1940's metro photos.
I ordered up the Darby Crash - son ordered the Chicken Avocado Melt. both came out perfectly grilled along with the sides of tots we each wanted.
This Merv's is every bit as fun as the original location - although it doesn't have the same cool outdoor deck - but you can't have everything!
Unusually, I forgot my iPhone on this first trip to the new Merv's - so no pix - but I'll catch up on the pix during the next visit.
In the meantime - check out the menu (online) and treat yourself to Merv's. Unlike many sequels, It's every bit as good as the original - if not better.
