I tried Pita’s Republic near the University of South Florida Tampa campus for the first time last week during their Meatless Monday promotion. During Meatless Mondays, Pita’s Republic sells veggie pitas for $3.99 each. I upgraded and made it a meal with a side potato salad and drink and my order came to less than $7 and the portion size was just right. In fact, looking over the menu at Pita’s Republic almost everything they sell is less than $7 which a great value especially for college students in the area living and commuting to USF. One interesting thing I noted upon my visit was pita-like paninis that looked appetizing. I have actually visited the Tuffy’s car repair shop next door a few times and never noticed Pita’s Republic next door. This location is actually the first one that was opened by the local chain. I became interested in trying the local chain when I heard that the owner, Moe Elkasri, studied in the MBA program at USF. I love Mediterranean food and was intrigued at the
I've only tried the vegetarian power pita (twice, at least), but it was amazing and flavorful. I'm usually not a fan of eggplant, but they went perfectly with the rest of the ingredients. I also like the pita bread they use; it's chewy and doesn't fall apart despite the many ingredients inside. My partner got the Philly cheese steak pita and also loved it. They also have some desserts like baklava and cookies at the register.
I was impressed with the quality of the food and service. The menu had a great selection of healthy and delicious options, and the staff were knowledgeable and helpful. I tried the chicken gyro- the flavors were fresh and vibrant. The prices were reasonable, and the portion sizes were generous. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making for a pleasant dining experience.
