Had the House fried rice. It was most excellent! I will definitely be back for more. The sweet tea was hardly sweet enough and I had to send it back and just drink water. The decor was beautiful and the soft music in the background was welcoming and restful. Every booth had chips and sweet and sour sauce just sitting out on the table.... For who knows how long? I would shy away from that but otherwise this is a great place to eat.
Really enjoyed Liang's in Tyler.
My wife and I are visiting and felt like a light and scrumptious Chinese meal for lunch and found this place. Very nice ambiance, and the service was outstanding, I had chicken lettuce wraps and egg drop soup that was extremely fresh tasting and presented very well. My wife had broccoli and shrimp with white sauce and said it was very good ("10 stars"). We spoke with the proprietor and she says her cheese cake is wonderful, however we are going to have to take her word for it because we did not have room for desert. Went here for anniversary. My husband and I went to Liangs for the first time yesterday. I've lived in the area for 33 years and this is my first time! I really wish I had gone sooner. The decor was lovely, our waiter was great and was very knowledgeable about the menu. I am glad we went for lunch though. The prices seemed a little high on the dinner menu but lunch was just right, especially if the portion at dinner was the same size as the lunch. The portions are small compared to other places but I feel the quality is better. Plus you get soup, an eggroll and rice on top of it so its filling either way. Needless to say everything was wonderful and our 12th anniversary was very special!
Great. My mom and I love eating at Liang's, we go at leat once a month and love the food! For a Chinese sit down dinner it is not over priced, if you compare it to a buffet or drive thru it is more expensive. I would recommend eating here to any one!
Not bad. I've only been several times, mainly when my family wants to treat me; the reason for this is that the prices seem to me to be a little hefty for what you get. I don't really have complaints about the food, which to my knowledge is the best (Americanized) Chinese food in Tyler, hands down and without competition to speak of; so think of the steep prices as a result of de facto monopoly. I must also say that I've gotten nothing but fine, friendly service, though I realize that can be luck-o'-the-draw. Last but not least, the atmosphere is really nice, really exceptionally nice for all but the nicest of restaurants in Tyler; not the absolute best for a special-occasion date night, but the owners seem to have actually put a little thought into the furnishings and music, unlike ~95% of Tyler's restaurants, which are simply fly-by-night tacky (radio station as music, sticky seats, advertisements laquered to the table-tops, tiki-lounge decor...low-class crap like that, everywhere, without mercy). I know it sounds silly, but at least Liang's is casual dining where the atmosphere doesn't feel like an entry in the Crass Olympics. And the food is pretty good!
Based on the other reviews I didnt want to like it but the vegetables in my veggie lo mein were varied and crisp. It was pricey and will probably generally continue to opt for Peking in the future. This place is definitely worth a try, probably even more so if you're wanting to spend a bit more and order something like a nice seafood dish as opposed to the very typical, commonplace menu items.
Not sure about the other reviewers.... But every time Ive been here the food has been well portioned, and slightly overpriced. Not terribly. Hunan beef typically feeds me for 1 and a bit more of a meal, and its about 13 bucks as I recall. Lunch portions are smaller, but also much cheaper. Staff can be hit or miss.
Liang's Chinese Restaurant
My wife and I have been searching for some decent Chinese food in Tyler, and I decided to Liang's a try. The restaurant is on the loop, just west of Troup in the Alberston's parking lot. The location is a little odd, however, the restaurant is beautifully decorated on the interior. We have eaten there a few times now and every time the owner is there being a perfect host. The spread: We have had the sweet and sour pork, pepper steak, chicken with peanuts (kung pao), pork fried rice, Peking shrimp and the egg drop and wonton soups. The verdict: After the first bite of soup, my wife declared, this is the second best egg drop soup I have ever had! (She is infatuated with an egg drop soup with corn from a Chinese place in Conroe, TX). After digging into the chicken with peanuts and pork fried rice, we looked up at one another with a smile on our faces. We both knew we had found our local Chinese restaurant...
I decided to give this establishment a try after it had been recommended to me a few times by some friends. I am glad I did the food was excellent. The service was also great. It was in a perfect location. The chicken stick was awesome. I would highly recommend this place.
Excellent Chicken with Vegetables. The chicken was, unlike some Asian restaurants, fresh and tender. And the vegetables were fresh and crisp, bu not too crisp.
Food was served fresh, quick & hot. Super quick for lunch. It was all super tasty as well. We did the sesame chicken, Kung po chicken, and Mongolian pork.
Lang's is back in their NEW LOCATION: 9278 old Jacksonville Hwy. in Tyler, TX. Food seems even better than before, but the old favorites are still there. Their dishes are not "steam table" food but freshly prepared. The egg rolls have such a light, crispy crust. The soups are full of flavor.
Wonderfully affordable lunch menu where entrée comes complete with egg roll or spring roll, soup, and choice of rice for under $10. Venue is open, airy, and sparkling clean. There is a bar section that looks interesting. Service is excellent.
My wife and I met here for dinner after work to relax and decompress after work. It was great all around. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. I had the Mapo Tofu and she had the Sweet Pepper Chicken.
Great place. (Maybe too quiet) We will absolutely be back.
Best Chinese food in Tyler. We love the new location. They have the best edamame, fried tofu, sushi, and of course, all the regular Chinese dishes. It's not a buffet. Unlike buffet dishes, it is prepared fresh and you can taste the difference. The service is wonderful. They are always kind and friendly. The only reason we're giving them 5 stars is because we can't give them 10!
