The wait (for build-out of the restaurant) was worth it!
We stopped in for lunch during the first day of the soft opening and were impressed with the food, decor, and service. The owner, Joseph, is a multi-time BBQ champion from Houston and has the trophies to prove it. We sampled the three-meat platter and selected sliced brisket, regular sausage (jalapeno sausage also available), and ribs. Joseph's wife, Laura, told us he's known for his ribs, but we were impressed with all three meat selections! Joseph, Laura, and an awesome craftsman built-out the restaurant themselves and have given it a cool, Texas Hill Country feel.
This place is the real deal and we look forward to dining there often (I have a serious BBQ addiction)!! Welcome to the hood, Poke in da Eye!
This place is THE BEST BBQ spot in Tyler. When I moved here, everyone told me to eat at Stanley’s because it was the best place around. So I went there and could NOT see what the hype was about. Poke In Da Eye is hands down 100x better. Staff is so friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend �

OMG!!!! We stopped in today for our fist time since we just bought a house on E. Lake Tyler. Very friendly staff - just what you'd expect from E. Tx folks. Some of the best BBQ we've ever tried! The chicken & ribs were exceptional. The side dishes were amazing!! Could easily make a meal out of just side dishes! The cold beer pairs well with the fabulous sauce thats a balanced blend of not too sweet with a little kick.
Cool decor & vibe. Anytime ya enter a BBQ joint filled w/ awards from cook-offs, ya know ya picked the right place! Owner takes great pride in visiting with guest to make sure they are satisfied.
Definitely got us a new BBQ joint!
