Ok--here's the scoop on the breakfast option at The Grant House ~~ it was delicious! I had "The Grant" in a scramble style versus an omelette. It included scrambled eggs, spinach, some sort of delicious cheese, cut up link sausage, cherry tomatoes and I don't know what else but it was so yummy. The breakfast included either hashbrowns or fried seasoned red potatoes (I had the season reds), piece of toast and two slices of bacon.
Hubby had biscuits and gravy which came with two links, two eggs and he got a side of hashbrowns. There was so much of it he couldn't even finish it and that's highly unusual. He said it was very tasty. I tasted the gravy and it wasn't the typical country gravy that you get with biscuits and gravy. It kind of had a cheesy taste to it and it was nicely seasoned.
The service was excellent. Order was taken right away, food came within 10 minutes, coffee was refilled multiple times. It was very relaxing and enjoyable and we will go again!! Prices comparable to other breakfast places in Vancouver however the ambience was so much better and the food much tastier than many places here in Vancouver. I would highly recommend it. It won't disappoint.
The Chicken and Waffles dish is a real treat - enough spice in the chicken to compliment the maple syrup, and a dense enough waffle to hold up to the chicken without getting squashed under all of it. The compound bacon butter just made the entire meal wonderful! Our waiter, Jeff was amazing - in spite of there being 12 of us and a full post-parade crowd to boot, my coffee was kept hot and no one's order was messed up! I'm looking forward to going back again for coffee and dessert sometime.
Pre-lunch, Alison, Nessa and Steve were all incredibly kind, including offering to get me a hot drink, to put my cloak somewhere to dry, taking a message to friends outside, and letting me sit in the empty bar to watch the parade and wait for the group's reservation.
I'll definitely be back!
We had dinner with friends on Friday, February 9, and it was wonderful. First I was greeted by name by the famous Nolan and then we had a great table in the main dining room. Since we were meeting friends, we didn’t want a lot of background noise. Jeff was our excellent server. Everyone’s dinner exceeded expectations. I really could have eaten another of the brined pork lion which was cut off the bone but was ‘melt in the mouth’ delicious. Our table shared the amazing crispy Brussels sprouts and bread pudding. It was a wonderful dining experience with a little background music from the bar for ambiance. We will be back soon.
