Stopped by for breakfast one weekday a few weeks ago. It was my first time at Milk & Honey - it's been on my list for a while so I was excited to check it out. Overall great food and great experience. Here are my takeaways:
Environment
Small restaurant located on H Street - it is more situated for take out but does have some seating if you choose to eat in. The time we went it wasn't busy at all which I hear doesn't happen often so it was pretty relaxed and low key.
Service
The service was easy - you walk up, look over the menu, order at the counter and wait for your food. They prepare the food in to go boxes (so no nice silverware or plates) but you're more than welcome to stay and dine in. It comes in handy when you don't finish your food and need to head out - you have everything you need already! Overall really nice and clean space with a warm ambiance.
Food and Drinks
The food was amazing. I absolutely loved the crab cake benedict. The crab was well seasoned and all the flavors came together well. The fish and grits were really good as well - grits were savory and creamy and the fish was cooked really well. I will definitely try other items on the menu.
Overall
Wonderful small space with great food. Mostly order to go but feel free to stay around and enjoy your meal. Loved the food and will definitely be back for more.
This is my first experience with having a meal from this establishment. I ordered from the takeout menu for breakfast. The food was soooo delicious! I had the French toast with the blueberries, and my coworker ordered the Shrimp Po’Boy. Both were exceptional! I did not realize that the sandwich would be a footlong, and have an order of french fries along with it. That meal lasted for breakfast, brunch, & lunch (3 meals in 1). The French toast was spot on! I can definitely see dining at this location in my future.
I’m not a fan of grits but the Shrimp & Grits were 🔥. I’ve only tried a few times but by far the best! The honey butter biscuits were yummy! Catfish melted in my mouth!!! Cajun pasta was delicious (I didn’t get a photo)!!! The peach cobbler cheesecake oh my god!!!! I didn’t think I would like it outside of a cobbler but it works well together.
It’s a nice small setting and the staff was friendly. Everything is given in to go containers which was nice.
