The food was great! The spice level was pretty much perfect for me; the chef didn’t over do the spices and the flavor balanced.
I am used to eating bigger portions, and hope the portions size was a bit bigger.
I also loved that their beer selection included some beers from Indian inspired breweries.
Bindaas is a really trendy Indian street food restaurant, with a wide variety of options on the menu. Including vegetarian and vegan selections (which is always great to see, and allows me to venture out). I’ve been to Indian restaurants countless times - but their take and focus on street food is one which is truly unique and translates well into the entire experience.
We ordered several options from the Chaat (savoury snacks) section of the menu and ate family style; I was blown away by everything that we tried. The Gunpowder fries were a real hit as was the Shrimp Bezule - and both of these would definitely have me going back for more.
For my entree, I asked for something as spicy as possible 🌶️- because I have a real palette for spicy food and drinks! Our server recommended the Lamb Curry (on the menu under Street Karee), and I really liked all of the flavours. Was it what I would consider spicy? Not really - but I still really enjoyed the meal.
Overall the service was good/fair… There was a bit of a lag in time when we ordered coffees, but this could have been because it was a busy Friday at lunchtime.
With this in mind, I would also recommend making reservations to make sure you don’t even up having to wait long to be seated.
Bindaas is a wonderful Indian street-food restaurant located near the heart of DC.
The exterior is warm, colorful, and easy to find. Inside is much the same, but is coupled with a very friendly staff who are quick to welcome and seat you.
As for the food, it was excellent and served impressively fast for how many people were dining around us. We got the chicken curry puffs, the Parsi fried chicken, the lamb goli shashlik, and the garlic-cilantro naan, which were all very, very delicious and piping hot!
For drinks, our lovely waitress suggested the Fool’s Gold and Green With Envy cocktails which were a big hit with us.
And for dessert (which we somehow got convinced to get even though our stomachs were close to popping) we had a chocolate raspberry cake and a mango milk cake of some sort—both were amazing.
My recommendation: go visit Bindaas and order whatever the servers suggest! It’s a wonderful restaurant!
