Was out exploring Georgetown for the day and stumbled upon Mr. Smith's of Georgetown because I was starving. The establishment has a homie feel to it and guests can either dine inside, enjoy the weather outside, or even eat upstairs. I read somewhere that on certain days they have someone playing the piano while guests dine/watch/listen.
Service was pretty decent. I was a bit confused though because while I did have a server who took my drink and food orders, the host (I believe) was the one to give/collect my bill/tip... Not too sure if there's tip pool that gets divided at the end of the shift, but it threw me off a bit. Not a big deal though because the host was very kind and polite and I really appreciated that.
Now on to the food/drinks. I really wanted to get a burger but I decided to try out the Cuban sandwich with fries. I'm glad I did because the sandwich was delicious. Just the right toasty outside and hot melty cheese and moist flavorful pulled pork and ham on the inside. The fries were a nice compliment as well. I did try out a happy hour margarita and a pecan pie for dessert but they both played second fiddle to the Cuban. If I visit Georgetown again, I'll make sure to come back for that sandwich alone.
I had breakfast here and their portions are so big I couldn't finish it. The omelet was so amazing. I also like the atmosphere. The service was so nice and fast
If you're in Washington DC you MUST visit this bar! Great bar and attentive staff who know what they're doing! We had such a brilliant evening on arriving in the US. Karaoke on Fridays and Saturdays and we got things moving! Sat at bar and came back next day for a couple of beers. This needs to be on everyone's list for Washington bars.
