A hidden gem no longer! Dyllans is growing in popularity and I'm so excited to see it flourish as the weather gets nicer.
I visited a few weeks ago and tasted both brunch and regular menu items. Exquisite service, taste and atmosphere. I met the owner, Don, and it was great to learn about his background and vision for dyllans and future restaurant concepts.
We started with the Peruvian ginger lime Snapper Ceviche. Wow so fresh and it had a spicy bite to it that I loved. My brunch drink of choice was wake me up early. And it sure did wake me up!
Then came out dyllans burger. Don made us both the 8 oz regular one and then brought out a double patty! Wow the meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The sweet potato chips on the side added the perfect crunch.
As a brunch fanatic, I can't decide which brunch item I loved the most, all were so fabulous.
We tried the maple Bourbon monkey bread, drizzled with vanilla frosting and served in a black cast iron skillet. It was so good and soft and warm... I didn't share it with my friend!
Next, we had the smoked salmon platter. This is such a colorful plate and loaded with alll the goods to make a perfect lox sandwich. It was served on this black stone plate. Just so lovely! Next we tried the new egg wrap. It was egg and cheese and spinach wrapped in a whole grain tortilla. So warm and tasted amazing. I never order wraps at brunch... but when I visits dyllans again I will most definitely be ordering the wrap.
I want to visit for happy hour and try more of their raw bar options. Dyllans also has an expansive patio area overlooking the C&o canal... it will be great for spring and summer happy hours and meals.
Georgetown is a beautiful part of DC - and I really enjoyed the day I had there. My friends and I stumbled on this place walking down a street on a Saturday evening. We had been looking at seafood restaurants since the previous day - found this place and looked at the menu and decided to go inside. I personally love a venue that's situated deep down a long ally way - always turns out good.
Walking in through the doors there was an ambiance of elegance/grace and serenity. A beautiful full length bar area was inviting with a fire place hidden in obvious site - the hostess was welcoming with a beautiful smile and an eagerness to help. she took our details and took us to our table. Whilst walking to the table I couldn't stop looking around - BEAUTIFUL décor - firing places - hidden table but still in view - perfectly private and with a huge floor plan. Stunning décor and the mood fits it perfectly.
The food options was perfect - was not too much that you felt overwhelmed with options - just the right amount of selection offers. Our waiter was graceful with all his words and explanations about the special offers and selections that he had recommended. The food came out promptly and was beautifully presented on the table. I have to mention this - I had asked about a BREAD SERVICE option while waiting for our food - and they brought out and bowl of burnt toast neatly sliced into squares - which was weird and didn't even provide us with butter or cutlery?? - that's like the only odd thing that happened?? I guess they didn't have a bread service option and the kitchen didn't know what to DO!!??
My friends really enjoyed how fresh their seafood was - they had oysters. I had Sushi which was excellent and a main course of steak and a pasta. In all said and done it was a fantastic experience and we can't recommend this place enough, the $$$ is a bit on the expensive side but so worth the price. The service is excellent the food is amazing and the place itself is so beautiful.
Wow! Yum! Great setting, great service, and great food. The server, Kevin, was awesome. The prices were good for what you get— I had a hangar steak sandwich, which came with sweet potato chips. The steak and bun were delish, and the chips were light as air. Great experience! (There could be some nice soft music outside, but that’s about it) :)
