We decided to check out this new bistro near Farragut Square which has been open for a month or two. We were very intrigued by the menu, and our waiter guided us through the selections ensuring in a very a pleasant and memorable evening! The soft-boiled duck egg, swimming in creamy soup with paprika potatoes, was very rich and got more spicy as it was consumed! The sweetbreads with prawns was a great follow-up to the egg! Very crispy outside and melt-in-your-mouth inside! The bittersweet chocolate tart with espresso ice cream was a delectable way to end the meal. The cocktails are highly recommended as well, especially the mezcal Sazerac of the Americas and the rum-based Disco Ball. Looking forward to another visit soon to sample other specialties of the house!
Great service and outstanding cuisine. Chef Raphael offers a unique interpretation of culinary favorites while adding the element of surprise. The result is an extraordinarily satisfying experience. Try the tender and moist chicken for two or the flavorful burger made to order. The deserts bring the meal to a fitting conclusion. The crime brûlée is not to be missed!
And let's not forget an imaginative and affordable wine list complemented by customized cocktails or old standbys. The French martini is the best you will find in this town.
Excellent Atmosphere & Delicious Food ! The menu offers a wide variety but i definitely recommend the Pâté, Burger or Sea Bass and finish it off with an amazing Creme Brulee !
This restaurant is going places. Well worth checking out.
Top notch service ! You literally have a team at your disposal including a very knowledgeable sommelier !
The small plates are as expected for a French restaurant, but the mains are to die for !
Highly recommend the Simplisse and Beef Brevet
Perfect. The food. Atmosphere. The service. Down to earth people, not stuffy, but oh, so right for the level of service one expects at a place like this...they're so welcoming...not to mention the perfect balance of flavors in the perfectly-sized portions in the unique menu. Everything tasted fresh, light, yet had real flavor and texture. Go. Don't just read this. I imagine myself and my husband going there for many more years to come.
Great place!!! Fantastic food and service. Highly recommend.
The food was light, very fresh and full of flavor! I highly recommend it and will definitely be back.
Great food, decor and service. Try the apps, main course, desert and drinks as the restaurant is doing well in all parts of the meal and experience. Enjoy!
Awesome GO! We were staying next store at the Mayflower and decided to drop in. The food, service and ambiance were lovely. We shared the blueberry salad and each had the burger.
The food and the staff are outstanding. This Is my new favorite restaurant in DC.
Great food with a flavorful and memorable slant, the best Absinthe!!!
Loved the ambiance, cocktails and food were delicious!!
Celebrated my birthday there and we had lots of fun! Various options for different taste profiles and different people.
Attentive service and and warm management!
Definitely going back soon!
Beautiful Restaurant.
I Loved the Fresh Squeezed Grapefruit Juice & Titos.
Great Presentation.
Cheeses Selected for the Board were Delicious.
I Will Definitly Go Back.
Can't Wait to Try Other Things on the Menu.
Alek, our bartender, was great...!!! He made us feel like special guests. He introduced us to some new adult beverages. We only regret not getting a chance to sample their food menu -- maybe next time...
Excellent food, service And atmosphere. A must do.
Great Food, Great Service, And there uniforms are Fab!!!
A style of comfort food with a rustic French/American influence.
Following the realization that modern French fare is a fleeting commodity in downtown D.C., I remembered the subdued sanctuary that is Le DeSales. We rushed in exactly at 4:00 PM (which I am aware is so obnoxious to the staff). The Bartender didn’t blink. He immediately got us drinks. My lavender martini was exquisite!
Food was superb. Each dish was well-timed and perfect in presentation, temperature, and quality.
For the average diner, glancing at a menu that offers classic French fare as well as trendy-titled sushi rolls will naturally spark doubt. Trust me when I tell you the sushi is delectable. The French onion soup is perfect. It’s nothing short of magic!
Do yourself a favor and locate this mid—block treasure. You will not be disappointed! Thank you to the staff and the bartender at Le DeSales! Can’t wait for my next visit!
This fresh French / Asian fusion restaurant was one of my finest dining experiences in DC. Located in the fashionable Dupont Circle area, this eatery was operating on all cylinders. My Sangria was refreshing, particularly on a hot, muggy day. The Burrata which followed was fresh and tasty. My wife had the Gazpacho which was also delicious. For my main course, I had the ribeye steak. I loved the preparation. It was sliced, tender, with a very tasty sauce. Even the side order of french fries were crispy and plentiful. Service was super friendly and professional. Overall, an amazing choice for dinner.
Came late Friday night with a reservation and the place was packed. Nice atmosphere, we were seated after about 5 minutes.
The service was great, attentive and friendly.
The restaurant was quite dark but it adds to the atmosphere.
The drinks are the highlight. Amazingly good Old Fashioned. The Painted Lady and the Yuzu Rasberry Smash were bright and nice. Highly recommended and can’t wait to try the others.
The food was a fun experience. The duck pate was not really special, not really a pate in my opinion. But the side pickle and the mustard are really good.
We try two different nigiris but don’t really like it. The scallops didn’t stand out - cannot taste the uni butter. The honey camember ones were not a good combination - rice and cheese, both are rich in your mouth.
The rabbit pappardelle was good. I like pappardelle in general so I enjoyed it, but the sauce was too creamy and the rabbit was kinda dry and bland - though pair well with the creamy sauce. I just expected more from tbe rabbit hind leg.
The sashimi pizza was really good! I was skeptical at first but it was well executed. The smokiness shines throughout and the seaweed salad was a well thought out edition.
We happened upon this place accidentally. It was a good find! Tucked between office buildings and the Mayflower hotel, it’s on a quaint one block side street. Came for dinner on a Wednesday night. Bar was crowded. Eclectic group of people which made it fun. It’s French food with an Asian (primarily Japanese) twist. The beef tartare was some of the best I’ve had in DC. I had the salmon for my main entree along with a side salad. The salmon was just “ok”. The side salad was quite delicious. Nice selection of Whiskey. Solid 4 star experience.
My Le Dasales Experience
Another wonderful dining experience! Everything I expected and more from a casual yet chic French restaurant.

Recent Visit:
I was hosted to lunch by my senior colleagues. We had a great time!
Good food, good company, good vibes, great cocktail presentation. Service could be better though as our waiter was very inattentive.
However, I still recommend if you want to have a taste of french and Japanese fusion in a decent space.
Second time here and I shall definitely revisit.

Love this place. Their happy hour is well priced, the cocktails are delicious, and the apps are awesome. It’s a great way to feel gourmet on a budget. I don’t eat sushi, but my friends all say their sushi is a steal. Would recommend, but go early. It can fill up (understandably so). I’ve also halted events here and it’s incredibly easy. Great for all occasions!
Had a spread here with friends which allowed me to try a couple of options on the menu.
DRINKS
Drinks were well balanced between strong and sweet. Had the yuzu raspberry and pear sangria
MAINS
Had the fish and chips and smoked salmon Sushi and both were great
Salmon and Branzino were cooked well and weren’t dry
I was looking forward to trying the chicken but it was a bit dry and needed the sauce to make it manageable.
The sashimi pizza was surprisingly nice. Some of the seafood pieces were a bit too large for me but overall I enjoyed it
SIDES
The fries were chef’s kiss but not surprised since this is a French restaurant
The charred broccoli was actually really good and I was surprised by how much I like it.
DESSERT
Crème brûlée was everything! 10/10
SERVICE AND AMBIENCE
Service was great and ambience was lovely with good mood lighting.
I highly recommend this restaurant. The service is always kind and attentive, and the food always impresses. I’ve been for dinner and happy hour and have always walked away happy, satisfied, and full.
The restaurant has a really nice ambiance whether you’re at the bar or in the dining room. The menu provides everything you’d want and the kitchen delivers. The drinks are well balanced and generous.
Get there in happy hour time and very surprised they have sushi rolls, the sushi was absolutely awesome, you guys have to stop by and check out the good price and quality, also they have my favorite draft beer (allagash) so a great combination and making easy to me give them 5 stars
My review : restaurant week Part 3!
$55/3 courses & includes a drink from the #ramw2023 menu which they're extending until the end of the month! I lovveeee me a fusion restaurant and this one is a gem. In order starting with my favourite:
✨️ Kobe beef sushi: 10/10 the flavours, the mouth feel, lordddd so good.
✨️ Hamachi crudo: LOVE Hamachi, this all came together perfectly flavour wise
✨️ Côtes courtes: short rib that was so tender and juicy
✨️ Pasture raised 🐔: DELISH, sauce was so tasty
✨️ Creme Brulee : Classic, my favourite dessert that can do no wrong
✨️ Chocolate tarte: Heavy in a good way, so decadent
Overall this is ANOTHER 10/10, Killin' it this week so far with the high scores of the restaurants. Big shoutout to Oscar & Louis who were SO kind and helpful last night, busting their tails off during one of the busiest times of the year. You guys need to add this to your list! - Insta @ SpicyAivy
So, I was in DC for a couple of days to hang out, see some stuff and meet up with a friend during the middle of March 2023. Unfortunately, it was a little on the cold and windy side but that did not ruin the whole trip.
For dinner on my first night, after a long day at a museum, I decided to try Le DeSales on DeSales Street. Despite having stayed at the hotel directly across the street at least four times in the past, I had never been to Le DeSales. I did not make a reservation because it was a Monday evening at about 5:15P when I arrived at the restaurant. The bar area looked pretty busy but I wanted a table. I was seated immediately. My server was there immediately to bring me water and get my drink order.
I chose one of their specialty cocktails, Asian Pear Sangria. I love sangria since my first glass while in college. I have consumed sangria in many restaurants in the U.S. and even in Spain. This was different and very good. Instead of just chunks of fruit, it actually had pear puree mixed into the drink, giving it a different texture.
For dinner, I ordered the Pasture Raised Chicken that is roasted with a tarragon, mushrooms and poulette sauce. I chose French fries instead of a side like wild rice or roasted cauliflower or charred broccolini. My meal arrived pretty quickly. I was impressed with my selection. The chicken was perfectly roasted so not dry and well-cooked. The poulette sauce and tarragon was not overpowering and only added to the flavor of the chicken.
For dessert, there were only two options—a little disappointing. I chose the chocolate tarte with a scoop of vanilla ice on top because I can rarely go more than twenty-four hours without chocolate. The tarte had a graham cracker crust. The ice cream was either house-made or from a good dairy/ice cream maker. The tarte was also very good.
The atmosphere was very nice. My server was very attentive, making sure that I was taken care of. Dinner for one, that included a drink, dinner, dessert and tea was a reasonable $59 for D.C. Food was very good, as was the service. I would eat there again and I would recommend Le DeSales.
Great happy hour menu, good drinks, not too loud or overcrowded. Nice substantial charcuterie, more than I was expecting!
I had french onion soup and pistachio kale salad for lunch. I sat at the outdoor seating facing the beautiful mayflower autograph hotel. The service was fast. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice.
Really great place, I was able to get a table at 8 on a Saturday no problem. They have some really amazing beef tartare mixed with capers and shallot with a spiced aoli and potato chips on top. I also had the rabbit pasta dish which was honestly a little bland. The pasta was great and had a perfect texture but I was kind of wanting to ask for parmesan cheese for it and then forgot to ask. The rabbit was hard to tell if it was rabbit or chicken. It had the consistency of rotisserie chicken somewhat pulled apart. I also had a truly excellent creme brulee here for dessert.
