I stayed a week at the Marriott and went 4 times to have dinner at the Auld Shebeen Pub. It is decorated as a real Irish pub, cosy and warm. Guinness is fresh and well poured, burgers are amazing especially their Guinness burger. And service is friendly and attentive. I recommend this place either for a drink at the bar or for dinner.
The cottage pie had too many Mash potatoes for my liking, but my boyfriend loved it. I personally loved my short rib. The service was excellent, and the decor made you feel like you were in a pub in Ireland rather than a hotel in New Jersey. I highly recommend grabbing a meal here it you're in the area.
Unexpected Gem
This was a little gem that I didn't expect. As soon as you walk in you're taking back to another time with a small fireplace and a wall of books. On one side there is a bar that's bustling with people chatting away and on the other side an area to enjoy being more an observer. Almost all angles allow you to see sports playing on the TV. But let's get to the food. I stayed for the week and ate there twice. The first night I had their chicken pot pie and it wasn't just any chicken pot pie it was fantastic. Puff pastry, chicken and vegetables... More than I expected both in size and deliciousness. The second night I had their Guinness braised short ribs, that fell apart with my fork.
Now we can get to the people, greeting me at the front door was a lovely woman named Mercy. She is happy and helpful and generally just a joy. All the servers were amazing Mike, Tony and I did not get the chef's name but he came out to check on various people's meals. I would highly recommend this place if you just wanted a pint and some pickies or a full-on comfort meal.
As an added consideration, they were very clean and careful to position people in an area they felt comfortable with during these covid times.
