I came in towards the end of the lunch rush on a Friday, and was seated and served promptly. The tortilla chips tasted like they were very recently fried. I ordered the La Chinita #1, which is a 9 inch flour tostada with Chile Verde. Delicious.
I also asked if they had extra hot salsa, they did, and it tasted like Chile con carne, a spicy green sauce with a little pork in it. Pretty tasty. I dumped the whole little bowl of it on my tostada.
The tostada shell quickly became mushy from all the salsa and Chile Verde juice, so I employed the fresh fried chips to scoop up each bite. It was like it was meant to be.
Looking back, I should have gotten the the junior version of my tostada, which is a 7 inch shell, as the 9" dish was a bit much for lunch, even for a big guy like me.
My waitress was quick and attentive, and didn't let my water glass get empty. I tipped her a bit over 20%.
The restaurant was clean, and the music was a bit different- they would play a festive Mexican song or two, and then a couple country oldies of the "Waylon and Willie" variety.
Overall it was a good experience. I plan on returning with my wife, who happens to be a black woman, to dispel another reviewer's allegation that they are prejudiced against black people. I seriously doubt that allegation.
Smothered pork burrito! My family has been going here for 10 years for this burrito, hasn't changed a bit.
Great local place. I love this place. Been eating here for 15+ years. Always like the food and service. Very authentic. Nice, stable staff. Most of the police and sheriff's department seems to take their lunch here.
I almost always have the Mexican special dinner for lunch. Great pork dish with beans and rice.
