We reserved our dinner at 8:30pm not knowing that the place closed at 9pm on a Sunday, but that didn’t stop the staff from not serving and hosting us. From the beginning when we walked in, they were kind and considerate and were okay for my partner and I to still enjoy a great dinner even when they were about to close. The lights were aromatic and nice and dim to give a nice dinner date vibe for me and her. We started with a bottle of white wine to go with our app of fried calamari, which was seasoned with some good cajun seasoning. It was nice and crispy and the cajun was done right! Have it a nice spice to it. For our entre, I got the duck ravioli and it was done correctly! The meat was tender and fresh; and the mushroom with the sauce on it was just to drool over. It tasted amazing. Such a nice pairing to go with the ravioli. My partner got a pasta dish with shrimp and mushroom in it. She said it tasted amazingly. And the size was good enough for her to take the rest home. The wine went well with her dish. We ended the night with dessert and they were great to end after the meals. The best part was the live singing! Such a great voice the older man had while playing the piano. I’d def come back here when I return to Baltimore.
Sammy’s Trattoria is a great spot located in Mt. Vernon serving up Italian favorites. Sonny’s chicken parm was great covered in a generous douse of sunday sauce. The Risotto Rene was also scrumptious with black truffle wild mushrooms. We also had a side of broccoli and angel hair pasta, each an excellent accompaniment to our main dishes. Do yourself a favor and try it out!
My partner and I came in and had the rigatoni alla vodka, and the pasta carbonara. Our waitress, Valerie was extremely kind— despite the fact they seemed understaffed— she recommended us a fantastic wine and had us in and out. Great food and great service! Will definitely be coming back :)
