This was definitely an experience it’s an open restaurant inside of Eataly. Meaning there are no walls separating the restaurant from the rest of the other restaurants or shop. It’s on a higher floor to a view overlooking downtown chicago. The server was extremely pleasant, Informative and patient. It was for Eataly’s restaurant fest and we got a deal two courses for $26, there were specials on the wine as well. The pasta came with a table side presentation. There was one pasta dish that was more on the bland side but all the other dishes tasted amazing. Definitely worth the experience.
We loved being able to shop all the ingredients and cool Italian staples you don’t find anywhere else when we were done with dinner as well.
Your party is seated as long as half the people have arrived. This is a good policy, but was thankfully abandoned on a slow Wednesday at 6pm, leaving time for a couple people in our group to park and find us on the second floor in the back of Eataly while others could sit and puruse the menu, get drinks and enjoy the view.
Wine is poured at 5oz, or 8oz if you want a generous glass 🍷
For food, the pizza is probably the best choice here, but there are plenty of other options. The ravioli is done perfectly al dente, with splatters of ribboned mozz and cherry tomatoes. The swordfish was, apparently, over-seasoned. The calzone took longer than other dishes, but was generously pre-cut into slices for easy consumption.
The dessert menu is wonderful, but you can also go down to the dessert and gelato bar on the 1st floor and bring something back up.
The pizza is really good. The crust is just about perfect. The branzino was also delicious.
