Service was good but the food was fabulous! My husband and I had eaten seafood already during our stay at Amelia so we both went with beef on this night. He ordered the rib eye and I ordered the prime rib. Both were cooked perfect and were just delicious. The cream brûlée was wonderful and the coffee was the best I have ever had. We will definitely be back on our next visit.
A huge “Thank You” to all at Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro for making my dad’s 85th birthday celebration a whopping success. It was a meal he won’t soon forget and I can’t express my gratitude enough. Specifically Owners Mari and her husband Chef Ricky, and server Brian. I worked with Mari for a few weeks on the particulars via email and everything was spot on! From the chilled bottle of Prosecco awaiting us as we arrived, to the lemons for the water, and the menus with no prices, every detail I asked for was honored with professionalism and a willingness to please. Brian was outstanding in explaining the fare and specials, answering the questions we had about the origin of the seafood and which is better, the bouillabaisse or the linguine with shrimp and scallops (we ordered both), splitting up a double order of the crab cakes appetizer onto individual plates, and giving us the time we needed between courses to enjoy each other’s company. The food was superb and expertly prepared. Mari and Chef Ricky even stopped by our table to chat and wish my father a happy birthday. We will be singing the praises of this experience to everyone who asks. Well done and kudos! Pat yourselves on the back and take a bow. You deserve it!! As we say in Italian, Grazie mille per un buon pasto e serata! 1000 thank you’s for a beautiful meal and evening!!
My lady and I had dinner at Joes's last evening. Right from the moment we entered the front door I knew it would be a special place. We were greeted by the hostess with a very warm and welcoming smile. We did not have reservations, but were accommodated easily at an outdoor table at our request. Our server, April, arrived shortly after, and explained the specials in a manner atat had me wanting to order all of them. I can not say enough about the level of service that April provided. Attentive, but not hovering, and always ready to offer advice or answer a question if one arose.
We don't usually order appetizers, but the fried wontons with chicken and andoullie sausage sounded delicious. They were, and the coleslaw that accommpanied them was probably the best I have had in years.
We both ordered scallop dishes as our entrees. I had the linguini with scallops and shrimp. The meal was beautifully prepared except that the "side-muscle" or tendon was not removed from three of the four scallops on my plate.
I am not one to make a big deal out of such things, but at an establishment like this, it was rather surprising. I mentioned them to April who immediately took them back into the kitchen. That was all I needed. As I said, the meal was delicious! I certainly wasn't looking for anything more. Within minutes, Jim, the manager, was beside our table, apologizing for the error. I honestly felt a bit embarrassed, but he assured me that he was not happy. As Jim put it; "This is not what we do!"
Summing up, gracious, welcoming, accommodating, and delicious. The key lime pie? Save room! Simply scrumptious!
We will be back!
