What a delightful experience. I came on a Saturday around 9P. Sushi Fugu is nestled in a busy "shopping town" over in Highland, but business was slow when I got there, leaving me with any seat I wanted. I chose to sit at the sushi bar directly and watch the skilled chefs prepare my rolls. I specifically ordered salmon heavy items like the Philly, Salmon Skin, and Salmon Roe. They were all beautiful works of art and tasted fresh and delicious.
Based on the lighting and ambiance, this would be a good place to take your date if he or she is into Depeche Mode or Muse. My experience was only heightened further by the attentive service I received from James and Eric. I completely skipped the hot kitchen, but based only on the sushi I would definitely go back. The sizing was so generous I had leftovers.
I should mention: I came here with a Groupon in hand, but I thought that even without it their prices were very reasonable. At $6.50 for the Philly Roll I got great cuts of salmon. That's what you would pay for bad grocery sushi.
Nice quiet date-friendly spot. For me and my wife, it's our go-to Japanese place when in Flower Mound. Tasty and not too terribly expensive especially for lunch. Loved the green mussels and the Katsu Bento Box. Couple growth points would be: Katsu is usually eaten over streamed white rice, but the bento here doesn't include that (you have to order it separately for $1.95). Also the Sushi Bento has only 4 nigiri (non-rolled) versus 8 California rolls, that balance should really be the reverse even if it costs a couple more bucks.
Small and quiet place on a Saturday afternoon. Received quick and attentive service. Prices a reasonable and typical of this type of establishment. The house spring rolls were average. The tornado was quite good. The hell and lava rol were delicious but could always be spicier. Great flavor and presentation of the rolls but more kick to the spiciness next time. Overall good experience. Enjoy my foodie connoisseurs.
