First visit. There are faded pictures in the windows of the menu, only a few with English labels; the handwritten menu board is in Chinese and Vietnamese with only brief English names, so it's pretty confusing. The specialty is roast meats - pork, duck, chicken. There is also what I think is called Salt Steamed Chicken, which is a Malaysian dish originally, so I guess this really is 'Asian' instead of specifically Vietnamese.
There is a daily special of 1 meat + 1 side for $4.95 and 2 meats + 1 side for $5.95. I got roast duck with bok choy and was charged $7 so apparently there's a charge for the rice, which I wasn't asked or told about.
Nice moist, flavorful meat, loved the bok choy, and I have enough leftover rice for a week.
There were other side plus other mains besides the roasted meats but none were labeled in English. The owner or manager did come around front of the counter to try to explain things for me, though and I will go back, hopefully with someone more knowledgeable about the offerings.
Unlike the similar place down the street (Dac Hung), there is adequate room for dining-in and most of the tables were occupied.
If you are looking for authentic, no frills, just great roast pork, char sui pork, roast duck, this is the place to go. Forget the low rating. We Asians don't eat service or atmosphere; we only care about quality. We drive from The Woodlands to pick up meats for our meals and it's worth it! Not dry. So fatty and tasty. Just do it! And, they are selling individual moon cakes!
I know this place for a while but never got a chance to try it out until now. Try two soy-sauce chicken quarters. Great value and good taste (and it was the end of the day). It was season just right and juicy. I would definitely be back to try other options, like the pork and duck. If you still haven't give place a try now is a good time. They are currently running a 15yr anniversary promotion.
