Beautiful restaurant, My steak was cooked perfectly. Their signature shrimp cocktail was an extraordinary cocktail sauce presented very nicely but the shrimp themselves were pretty bland, I guess they just assumed that the sauce is robust enough that they don't really season the poaching water for the shrimp. I have to say that I was very disappointed in the creamed spinach though. While waiting for my table to be available, I had a drink at the upstairs lounge and I saw several people eating their spinach and artichoke dip. Upon the arrival of my $15 creamed spinach, I realized that it was just the spinach dip in a wider serving vessel and without the chips. While I do enjoy spinach and artichoke dip, I wasn't expecting to get it being passed off as my favorite side dish. Overall I had a good experience but I wouldn't say it was worth the money. Next time, I'll just eat in the lounge.
St. Elmo's is a staple and it lives up to the hype! Many in the group I went with had gone before and gave great tips and convinced me to try their famous shrimp cocktail. It was really good and the horseradish based sauce really clears your sinuses, so enjoy it in moderation. The lobster bisque was probably the best I've ever had. Finally the porterhouse steak was the first I had ever had and I'm surprised I was able to finish it. It had great flavor. I look forward to returning next time I'm in Indy!
Everything about this place was fantastic. It’s definitely worth the $$. It was on our “bucket list” for our trip to Indy. Our waiter was super knowledgeable about the menu. He checked in on us often. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. The cocktail sauce will clear your sinuses right up. Hands down one of the best meals I’ve had.
