Really impressed with Ixca and saddened that I've waited so long to try their food. Very modern feel and food that compliments that vibe. Before tip, lunch for two was under $20, which is really solid. And the choices aren't just everyday Mexican food. Great variety! Can't wait to go back.
Just came back from vacation and saw there was a new restaurant in my neighborhood so I had to try it. Let's start off with the location, super large inside and they have parking off street! And once inside it was very fancy and clean, plus it appears that there is a bar! I had horchata (hopefully I'm spelling that right), 2 tacos, and the cheese and churo dip. The tacos were delicious and had the perfect amount of onions, cilantro, lime, and meat! The dip was really fantastic tasting too! And did I mention they have horchada?!!! Super happy to have them here and will be going back with more people so I can steal some of the food off of their plates and sample more of what they have to offer!
New to the neighborhood, Ixca (Eeshka), is setting the trend for what an Authentic Mexican Restaurant should be like. Don't get me wrong. I'm all about naked burritos and chicken quesadillas, but there are chains for these. If you're looking for Authentic Mexican food, this is your place! They don't start you off with Chips & Salsa, but chicharrones!
I had their avocado salad with steak, Sopa Azteca, their Taquitos Estilo Guerrero, Churros and Tres Leches. Yes. I 've been here a few times already! Just when I thought I couldn't be more impressed, I looked over to the bar and saw that they had the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale on draft!!! They only have their beer and wine license, but are hoping to work on a liquor one in the next few months. If you're not a beer fan they also have Apple Cider and Micheladas (even thought Micheladas have beer, it is an option). This was definitely the cherry on top. There's also a chalk wall for folks to enjoy (especially those with kiddos!)
It opened in October of 2017 in the Irvington Neighborhood and they're still working out a few kinks, but overall, my experience has been great and I will definitely become a regular. If you want to try something new and explore the different delicious flavors the beautiful country of Mexico has to offer, stop by!
