This was our first time in the Keys, and as recommended by our friends, the Hungry Tarpon was the best for breakfast. The menu offers great breakfast options that are far from boring or basic, and the portions are huge for a price that’s much less than what you’d find on a resort. The setting is really neat, with canvas coverings tied amongst the treetops to cover the dining area, with a beautiful view of the water. We enjoyed it so much that we went for breakfast the next day too! The only downside is they didn’t have iced coffee... so we made our own!
We had an awesome time here feeding the tarpon, shopping and relaxing by the water. Cute little shops and if you get the shaved ice, get The Islamaroda. It's great! We went on the charter from here and the guys were awesome. They really helped us, filet the fish and we had them cooked at the restaurant. The restaurant is far from fancy, it's laid back outdoors with a view of everything going on. The food was amazing!!!! The shrimp is the best I've ever had. We love it here. Have ate here 2 days in a row!!! We sat in chairs by the dock and had a crab, shark, tarpon and manatee all right in front of us
Giving this a 3.5 mostly because it was just a fun place in a location with a fun funky vibe. Most seating is outdoors so you can watch the goings on at the marina, including the charter boats going and coming and people hand feeding the huge tarpon. There was also a manatee lounging around. We had lunch here after coming in from fishing charter out of the marina, which was on the same property, and the food was good. They have a fabulous looking breakfast menu, and if we had more time I would come back. There are some open air souvenir shops you can knock around in while you are waiting for your table. Only one drawback ... It was unusually chilly day when we were there, and this place sits right in the path of the north wind.
