A great time. I took my wife here for an anniversary dinner. I had some apprehension due to some older comments with nothing too recent. But I really wanted someplace different. I just didn't want good food, I wanted some ambiance and dare I say, something other then new sterile surroundings, I was looking for a little romance. And this being winter with snow today, I thought a fireplace would be really nice ambiance. Our hotel was Central Park West, and the concierge provided several suggestions of good food but nothing that struck me as a little romantic. So we took a cab about 20 blocks. Now, when we got there we were greeted by a host & hostess who took up upstairs. The downstairs looked nice and the upstairs had a really nice burning fireplace. We were seated immediately with our reservation, water and menus appeared immediately along with the waiter who took our beverage order and explained the specials. We both opted for the filet minion (medium & medium well), added a couple of salads and one side for each meal. The sides were good sized for us to share. The flow of service was timely. This is not a fast food restaurant or a grab and go. The caesura was quite appropriate to allow for conversation. The steak was outstanding. The chocolate volcano was delicious. Overall, the entire service was great and attentive, the ambiance of the "fireplace" room was delightful. The bill was about $140 (pre gratuity) for both of us, and we were highly pleased with everything. As an additional treat, we took the limo back to our hotel, and this cost me a tip which was just a few bucks more than a taxi. We had a great time and I can recommend Frankie & Johnnies on 37th St. They have other locations but we went to this one. Oh and we were visiting from Orlando.
