Maybe, after reading other reviews (after ordering), my expectations were low, but my filet (26 bucks) was tender and done a good but not perfect med rare. Veggies were snow peas, carrot chips and a little cauliflower. Tender crisp. Potatoes ok, better after adding butter. Not the best steak ever, but far from the worst! Manhattan needed more vermouth, and expensive at 9.50, but food and service were better than previous reviews imply. And really, folks...26 bucks for a big filet with ample sides??? That's reasonable.
We walked in and asked for a window seat. No one was there, but the hostess complained that the booths are usually reserved for larger parties. She grudgingly cleared to 2 table settings. Good people watching on 7th ave. Music was not too loud. The Russian waitresses were young and fairly disinterested. Our 2 vegetarian paninis were sprinkled with parsley and pretty. Tasty too, but too few tasty bowling alley French fries with sea salt (and aforementioned parsley). Dishes removed from the table with the merest hint of being done. Pricey. Our sandwiches and non alcaholic drinks came to $32.60 pre-tip.
