Bonnie Tandy Leblang - BITE OF THE BEST
+4
When I moved to the hood, my friends who had lived there for 20+ years told me about a number of their go-to lunch places; Rainbow Falafel on 17th Street was one of them. If I had turned my head as I was walking by, I could have easily missed this little gem on 17th just west of Union Square. Rainbow serves some of the best falafel (deep-fried spiced mashed chickpeas) in the city for under $5 for a take-out sandwich.
I love falaffel. and rainbows. Real falaffels! can't get any better than that, and I can actually taste the freshness in the ingredients. warning: if you ask for it spicy, they think you're serious, so make sure to have PLENTY, of water at hand! Delicious, none the less.
Best Felafel I have ever had.. A literal hole in the wall on 17th street off Union Square. Felafel is fresh cooked, not pre-cooked, spicy and has just the right amount of sauce. It is messy however, so eat it carefully. Also, it is take-out-only and not wheelchair accessible.
