COLOMBIA 🇨🇴
Dispatch from Sunnyside, Queens:
A quick Colombian-style perro, courtesy of Los Verdes in Sunnyside. This chain is all over southern Florida but has just this branch in New York City. Other Colombian favorites like arepas, and crossover Venezuelan classics like patacón sandwiches and cachapas are available here as well. This dog features mozzarella cheese oozing out, bacon, smashed potato chips, and a quail egg. Very satisfying, much more so than the famous NYC dog to be honest.

ℹ️ This short story today on our website.
Perros, Arepas, Maicitos, & Patacones. Los Verdes specializes in Colombian street foods and puts a Colombian spin to hamburgers. These are fun foods. They do pack some savory flavors.
My spouse could not resist ordering the dedito de guayaba de queso, a fried rolled pastry filled with cheese and guava jam. She also selected the regular hot dog which is anything but regular. The dog is covered with mozzarella, bacon bits, smashed (crushed) potato chip pieces, a quail egg, pink special pineapple and Los Verdes sauce on a large hot dog bun. Coleslaw accompanies this concoction. She cleared the plate which means thumbs up.
I picked coffee as my beverage over soda, tropical juices and milkshakes. Then, it was tough to figure what direction to go. The choriperro won out because I like chorizo. The choriperro adds chorizo to the host of regular hot dog ingredients. I liked it.
Other selections such as the filled arepas, filled patacones, and the maicitos received strong consideration. Hamburgers sounded tempting but they are not Colombian enough. Hot dogs already have tradition on their side. So it goes.
