On my continuing adventures and was looking for some place different...found it! Service was pretty good and the food was excellent. I can’t even spell or pronounce what I got, but it was basically a flour tortilla shaped like a sandal covered in cheese and a load and a half of cut up steak with two eggs on top. Delicious! The wife got a smothered quesadilla (lots of gooey cheese) with the pulled chicken and she enjoyed it. The grandkid got chicken tenders...a fairly common thing on any kid’s menu, however, these were NOT a common chicken tender. These are made in house and they were “yummy” (her word). Over all experience was excellent start to finish.
Admit I saw them on DDD, had to try and definately not disappointed. Had lunch first, tried the Huarache Chilango, the signature bean and cheese filled tortilla with asada and chorizo, smothered in queso. To die for. So full of flavor and well prepared. Came back a,few days later, for breakfast and the breakfast burritos were large and very delicious. Picked up a dozen, pork tamales to go (amazing, large, and very full of filling with a nice kick in the meat), plus so pan dulce and mixed pastries to go. Will be a regular stop now when I am in town, and definately my stop before heading back home.
This place is the real deal when it comes to Mexican Cusine. They consistently exceed my expectations for Mexican food in Hampton Roads. I love that it is not an upscale dining atmosphere, yet the food is excellent. Their Chipotle Guacamole and house hot sauces alone are worth the trip to OV. The Chile Verde is top-notch.
