Popped into Tijuana Flats for the first time. It’s a pretty casual and funky place :). The front staff were very polite and friendly. When I looked over the menu that was on the counter, I queried how big the chimichanga was and they showed with their hands its size, which was pretty nice size for its price. I got the wheat tortilla with ground beef and cheese filling, topped with tomato and shredded lettuce. It came with a side of chips—I asked for salsa, which came at no charge. The dish was surprisingly tasty and nicely seasoned, not very salty at all. The tortilla was crisp but not over-fried.
I would come back if I’m in town again.
This place was AWESOME!! The food was so fresh and tasty. In our party we had spicy food lovers and haters and everyone was happy. The service was fantastic portions were just right and the prices were reasonable.
First step is to avoid the enormous anthill by the front door. Do yourself a favor, and take the concrete path instead of the "shortest route" to the door. Missed this in the dark.
If you can manage to get to the door though, the portions here are as incredible as their low prices. Can't speak to their alcohol as I didn't have any, but their food is very good. Knocked off one star from food because even their hottest sauce (Carolina Reaper and Habanero) is watered down with a subpar aftertase. It's like the capsaicin is left and the flavor has been filtered out.
Regardless, I won't hold that against them. I have an incredibly hunger for spice, and most places don't even come close to having these offerings. Try the sauce anyway, it might just be me.
