I just had the most amazing cheeseburger of my life (at the 12630 Tatum location in Phoenix), thanks to a big-hearted man named Moses behind the counter. I am a homeless 66 year-old woman who is lucky enough to have a car to sleep each night. I have been eating a lot of gas-station sandwiches and canned chicken and tuna, but this afternoon, I was dying for a “real” cheeseburger. I splurged and went into Wendy’s, and Moses politely listened as I asked for no mayo and extra tomato on “Dave’s Double.” As he handed me the bag with what would be my dinner AND tomorrow’s breakfast, and on impulse, I said, “You’ve been so kind… Is there anything you’re getting ready to throw away? I’m homeless and living in my car, so I just thought I’d ask.” I watched as Moses walked over to the heat lamps and loaded a container of hot french fries, along with some chicken nuggets, before putting them in the sack with my burger. As tears spilled from my eyes, I said, “Thank you” and left. I will never forget this. You never know who you have a chance to uplift each day. I had a problem with a mobile order using the Wendy's app. I had recently installed the app on my phone, opened an account, and saved my credit card info with the account. I ordered a meal at this Wendy's using the app. When I arrived to pick up my order, they couldn't find it. What happened was that the order was sent to this store but the name was a shortened form of my first name plus the first letter of my last name.
I am not going to blame this store for the confusion that caused when I arrived to pick up my order. I am going to blame the Wendy's app for the problem. The app is poorly designed and not easy to use. They should have a code that you give when picking up an order like McDonald's app has. This would avoid any problems with names and provide greater security. Wendy's could improve their app even more if they gave an option to schedule an approximate time when you expected to pick up your order like the Jersey Mike's app does. Not everyone wants to pick up an order immediately.
My evaluation of this Wendy's location is only about the quality of their service. Service is fairly good during the daytime hours but not as good during the evening hours. This is a staffing problem but I will cut them some slack because the service industry is having difficulty recruiting good workers and retaining them as we emerge from the COVID pandemic. I gave this Wendy's location 4 stars. Wendy's has some issues they need to work on before I will give them 5 stars.
