This food is scrumptious! Getting all the elements in a bight is so balanced. The red tea cuts the heat from the slaw. The slaw is a spicy medium. It has habanero in it just enough to taste the tropical flavor of the pepper. It never got beyond a medium spicy level like you'd get in a spicy Thai place. My wife got the tofu and I got the chicken. Can't wait to order again
I usually go to places a fair amount of trips to fully understand what they're all about. If a place has me inspired to go there a few times a week, it's a keeper. Now, Jouk Li Jou (Haitian CookShack Cafe), somehow when you chit-chat with small business, your order gets customized automatically. I must confess that I visit this place on a daily basis, simply because it's quicker for me and more eco-friendly rather than washing a dish or two after every meal. Home cooked meal, no matter its origins, is still a home cooked meal.
My current favorite is the roasted chicken. The owner also has homemade non-alcoholic drinks too, changes daily.
I got the chicken plate and everything was so flavorful. The chicken was juicy and the sauce has a wonderful kick to it. I will definitely be going back!
