We were regular diners at Bezu, the upscale restaurant that had occupied this space. We mourned its closing and took our time before visiting its replacement. In brief, our fairly broad one-time sampling of the comfort food menu elicited universal approbation -- we liked it! We're eager to return -- in fact just writing this gives me the idea to head out to Potomac for lunch today! The clientele is younger and a bit more boisterous than the demur patrons of Bezu, but the food makes the tradeoff worth the trip.
Well, as I suggested above, I DID go to Mix for lunch -- well, brunch actually -- it's Sunday after all. I was the only one in the restaurant from the time I sat down till the time I left. I went alone with my IPad, intent on catching up with the Sunday papers. It was not meant to be. Far from enhancing the atmosphere, the "background" music, both the volume and the selections, detracted from the experience. The music included attention-riveting selections, many with vocals, which used to be a BIG restaurant no-no in the not-so-distant past. The loud music along with a half dozen or so large screen TV's amount to an annoying barrage of unwanted stimulus. Conversation would had been difficult, quiet reading impossible. But still, a restaurant --even a "bar and grill" -- is about the food (and, I suppose, the drinks) and on this score, Mix is still on the plus side.
This place is awesome! Great atmosphere, mixed crowd, no pun intended and the bar tenders make it worth it!!!
Great service and beautiful decor. Perfect place for a date night.
