Nice Surprise. I left Cannon Beach for Portland without having breakfast. This was a nice find at 10 AM. Very much diner grub in the best old school tradition. I have the corned beef hash with poached eggs. The hash sure didn't scrimp on the corned beef and the eggs were perfectly soft poached, just like I requested. A couple of nice fresh biscuits instead of toast and a cup of Joe and I was on my way. All in, just under $10. This is a good place to stop if you're on Hwy 26.
Average Diner Grub. Dropped in here on our way back to Portland. This place is a diner through and through, I'm just not sure if they know it. My Ham and Cheese Omelet was pretty good, Hashbrowns couldve used a little more brownin. My Sourdough Toast was mean, after tearing through one piece I called it quits. My wife was unimpressed with both her Eggs and Pancakes. Its not that these things were "bad" per say, just uninspired, like most diner food usually is. The problem that I have is that Im being charged prices like Im still at the beach for this average fare. If youre a diner, then your prices should reflect that. As far as service goes, it was fine, as it should be when you only have 2 tables.
Grade: C (average food, high prices for it)
Very Good Food. Every time we drive by here, we have to stop in. They have the best Elderberry syrup ever. Great food. Everyone needs to go here and eat at least once.
