The best omakase experience we’ve had so far. We travelled from Houston for vacation during my birthday. The service was exceptional, and we really loved the sake pairings because they were very individualized based on taste. The meal was incredibly unique with many fishes more commonly consumed in the summer. 100% would come back here the next time we come back to Seattle.
First off, I just want to say that I know Taneda-san personally, in that my husband worked with him sixteen years ago at a sushi restaurant.
When we decided to visit Seattle (we no longer live there) for Thanksgiving break, we really wanted to try out Taneda-san's new restaurant.
We read online that reservations seemed really hard to get, so we set up an official Tock account and entered all our credit card information in advance. When the reservations opened up, we immediately logged in to Tock and tried to get a reservation. We were happily surprised when we snagged a reservation for when we'd be in town!
We are not bots, and we did not get any preferential treatment when making a reservation. I guess we just got supremely lucky to get a reservation on our first try! I say this not to rub it in anyone's face who has been trying for many times, but perhaps as encouragement that it's not impossible to get a reservation.
Taneda-san and his staff offer a welcoming dining experience from beginning to end. Omakase can be an intimidating experience, but Taneda-san is open to answering any questions about ingredients. He takes time to describe how each dish was prepared and how seasonality was taken into consideration.
One of the highlights of the meal was tasting ingredients I've never had before.
Our evening at Taneda is one we'll never forget.
Worthy of having their own Michelin star in my opinion. My fiancé and I managed to snag a reservation and it was our best meal ever that blew away all of the other omakase and sushi restaurants we have ever been, including a few other Michelin rated restaurants we had before in Southern California. The service was impeccable, great sake pairing options catered to your taste (if you decide to go with the sake pairing), and Chef Taneda is very personable, really gets to know you and very humble to talk about his craft and life experiences! They have a rotating omakase menu that is dependent on what is in season for the ingredients they select to serve. Some omakase places I have been to have left me still hungry afterwards, but this place we were all so full after with the amount of rounds they serve! Make sure to have fast internet when you try to reserve a spot, and thankfully they try to block out any bots using Tock! The price may look a little steep, but it is very well worth the overall experience and service.
