We ate here as it was getting late and it was next to where we were staying and didn't really expect too much.
However, the staff were very helpful and the Irish stew was great.
We went on to have breakfast here and once again the food was excellent.
The setting is very quaint with stained glass on the wall contrasting the new staircase and wine rack that covered an entire wall.
Would happily eat here again and again.
Most beautiful Irish pub in the world - & great food!. Brendan's is gorgeous. It's in what used to be the lobby of a fabulous hotel of the early 20th Century. The ceilings must be at least 30 feet high and beautifully embellished. It's a pleasure to dine under this soaring ceiling. The food is superb and very reasonably priced. Let me repeat that for emphasis: Brendan's is significantly less expensive than you would expect for food of such high quality. Their steaks, salmon, fish & chips, and crab cakes are all absolutely wonderful. My one suggestion is: Order the "shoestring fries" not the regular fries. Also note that the "Atlantic Salmon" which is for some reason on the appetizers/salads menu, is actually a full serving size - and it's teriffic. You will not be disappointed by the plethora of draft beers available. My friend from Atlanta was bowled over to find Boddington's on draft (just one example). Next time you're near Macy's, cross Broadway and walk a few steps east on 35th St. to Brendan's.
Good, but not exceptional. This is definitely a good place for higher pub fair, if you don't think that's an oxymoron. Menu selections are varied enough, and some of the dishes are quite inventive. Their "juicy" burger really is juicy! A bit too fancy for a pub, and certainly more expensive than average, but a good business lunch choice nonetheless.
