Delicious German comfort food. Schnitzel is great, the seafood short-stack presentation and flavor was off the chain. Love the spaetzle and any side that has cabbage (green or purple) and the Black Forest Cake closed out this portion of date night nicely. Make a reservation!

Cafe Rustika is one of our absolute favorite places for the atmosphere, service and food. My husband won't stop talking about the cordon bleu, and my Rahmschnitzel is always to die for. The owner is an awesome cook, and John (server/owner) takes great care of us every time. He even gave us a huge slice of their Schwarzwaelder cake as a congrats on our recent nuptials. My husband is German, and this food makes him feel like he's home (actually it's even better than the schnitzel, cordon bleu and cake we get in Germany).
Stumbled upon La Rustica and loved it. We were there early, and the place already had a comfortable mix of regulars in tshirts and jeans at the bar and a few very well dressed couples in the booths, deep in lively conversation. We loved this unpretentious, super homey, 'come as you are' atmosphere -- as we had just bicycled up from Jamestown and were a bit rough around the edges ourselves.
I lived in Germany for a year and my my is French. The food happens to be echt Deutsch -- completely genuine. But more importantly, it's delicious, as if you were dining at a good friend's home -- a friend who happens to be German. We especially loved the brats, spätzle and cucumber salad. Ausgezichnet. To finish off we split a slice of their home made chocolate tort that was dense, rich and tasty.
We'll make a point of coming back and trying more of the menu. Just terrific. Well done.
