Exquisite food made with love by a chef that cares. The cauliflower soup was creamy with just a touch of pungent vinegar. The duck breast was truly extraordinary: tender, subtle rub, and tangy orange. The dessert, Poire Belle Hélène, was a delightful combination of fine chocolate, rosemary pears, and delicious black walnut ice cream. Excellent house red wine, great calvados, and excellent espresso. Finally, Barbara is a very congenial, positive, informative, and knowledgeable hostess. Overall, a wonderful culinary experience!
For a Daniel Boulud restaurant, I enjoyed Cafe Boulud even more than Daniel (the flagship restaurant). The dining room atmosphere is elegant but not stuffy. The food was fantastic of course and I especially enjoyed the way the menu is laid out: four menu options of first and second course separated out by: a regular menu, vegetarian, seasonal, and a city of choice. This month's city was New Orleans. The service was 5 star all the way and while I felt attended to, I did not feel hovered over. I would definitely come back.
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience! I booked through the Open Table app listing our allergy specifications and diet. Our server Maria explained the courses and offered suggestions based on our preferences. The Crispy Duck, Salmon Fume', and Scallops were amazing! Lastly, we finished with Raspberry Souffle'! We couldn't have selected a better place to celebrate our 16th anniversary! Thank you!
