As new Fan residents, we enjoy trying all the little neighborhood restaurants. We visited Rowland to celebrate our son's birthday. What a great place. Nothing fancy as far as decor, some local art which is nice. Friendly staff. Pretty empty when we arrived, but filled up as night progressed. Appetizers and salads were fresh and tasty. Entrees were amazing! Son got the bison burger. It arrived slightly more done than his requested medium rare, but he said it was still very good. Flavorful sauce and sides of Yucca fries and butter bean relish. I got one of the specials - pork and cheese stuffed manicotti that was out of this world delicious! The sauce was so flavorful with lots of great stuffing in the pasta. My husband got the blackened shrimp with sausage. It was supposed to come served over grits, but he is not a grits guy, so he asked if he could substitute a side of Brussels sprouts. Waiter said would not be a problem. When the dish came out, you could tell the chef really worked the sprouts into the dish instead of just plopping on the side. They were shaved and prepared. Husband said it was really good. Topped things off with 2 very good desserts.
Could tell many who came were regulars who knew the chef. And speaking of the chef and owner, Bruce, he was visible and made sure everyone was happy. He even worked behind the bar!
We will definitely come back to Rowland and hopefully become regulars!
Awesome place with a great ambience!! Totally recommend the butter bean cake for the appetizer and Joe’s Chop for the entre. And the Virginia, the owner is super cool . I’ll definitely be back!!
I loved the romantic atmosphere and our server was wonderful. Delicious food. Portions exactly right. My stuffed Flounder with Crab meat was mouth watering. I will definitely be back!!! A wonderful Valentines treat!!!!
